Yep, I found all of those errors with the new tool already.  Just haven't made a release with the fixes yet.  Thanks for pointing them out for me.  Some of that is inherited from Sphr's original files.

Just so you know, Ranting. I was getting the same flickery screen problem a few others mentioned earlier in the thread; I solved it by setting the PARTIAL_PRINT value in the init.txt file to NO. It worked fine at 800x600 resolution and 80x25 grid.

Edit: Oh yeah, I was meaning to ask if there's a way to use your graphics but not the water. I kind of liked the sparkling way the default tildes looked.

You'll have to customize the font to do that.

I tried that before, but I ended up accidentally removing three quarters of the skills from the game. Honestly, I have no idea how I did that. I didn't change any text, only the font file. o_o I just reverted to an old backup and kept going but -still-.

Good afternoon.

You SHOULD be able to edit the tileset graphic you have in your data/art folder directly. I did so myself last night to invert the foreground/background colors of one that was bugging me (not in RR's set). The nice thing about this process is that you can make changes and see how they work on game restart. You can do the same thing with altering the tiles used by creatures and minerals and stuff. I don't think the water tile setting is accessible at this point though, so you'd have to just edit/replace the tile IN THAT POSITION.

Rochndil, who needs to finish up mucking with stuff, and post it...

Me? I'm in the middle of overhauling the entire metals system. I'll have a post when it's presentable, it's a mess right now.

Overhauling the metals system?  I thought this was a graphical-only mod...

Good morning.

I'm working on my own mod, unrelated to this thread. And I'm ALMOST ready to test the beast!

It is.  The post you are replying to was not made by Ranting Rodent.

A note - your installation instructions, on Mac OS X, would not work, because Mac OS X does not merge folders when you copy one with the same name on top of another one.

So most of the DATA directory would get wiped out.

Really?  Wow.  Apple are supposed to be the kings of user friendliness.  I'll add a note when I do the next update.

Yeah, it's one of the idiosyncrasies of the platform.

Do you have a suggestion for a good way to integrate a mod on a mac?

I do not dislike this.

However I do feel that there are some possible improvements.

I feel that it's just a little too noisy. The complex objects and such with shading and whatnot tend to all blur together when there's varying color thrown into the mix. It's just very hard to distinguish some things. Particularly if they're darkly colored.
