You'd think after '20,000 Leagues Under the Sea', 'Deep Rising', 'Sphere', 'and Pirates of the Carribean 2-3', Hollywood would have figured out that squids are what makes movies great!

Noir, film grain, and CGI are the in things in Hollywood these days. People also dig slow motion.

I was so stoked for the Watchmen movie until I read the comic though... hehehe...

Dr. Manhattan is the new Squid. Ozzie unites humanity against him as he is the most powerful being in existence. With him out of the way, the human race can finally prosper. With someone of his power hanging around, the concept of human accomplishment and achievement is pointless.

I think that makes Ozzymandias quite an unambigous villain. It has my stamp of disapproval.

I loved the comic, and yet have absolutely no hopes for the movie.

On the screenwriter (Hamm):

Hamm found the task of condensing Moore's 338-page, nine-panel-a-page strip into a 128-page script arduous. He took the liberty of re-writing Watchmen's complicated  () ending into a "more manageable" conclusion involving an assassination and a time paradox.

Moore refused to write the screenplay, so I have no reason to expect any greatness from this film.

But when Manhattan leaves, Russia makes her move against America.  I don't see it being quite as clear cut as that.  Of course, if there's a time paradox, it must solve everything.

I agree.  As bizarre as the squid is, it's the only thing that makes sense.
