You mean the tile set that can make "real" circles?

those look REALLY nice.

And my village idea is poor= outside curtain wall. no taxes my ass.
working class= portcullis and curtain wall to protect you.
Noble/legendary= DRAWBRIDGE AHOY!

no one outside the palisade. The pallisade is pretty big, i dnd't thing about how large a castle was going to be.

Alright, kinda large. Bear with me here. The space between the two structures to the North shall be channeled and filled with water, eventually surrounding the castle to form a moat. I just recently deconstructed the housing area and meeting hall because they were in the place of the new ones, which I am about to build. The NE area shall be filled with workshops and stockpiles, and to the south you can see the manor/keep. The West side will have a cathedral someday, and to the south of the separating wall shall be a village for the middle-class. That strange building roughly in the center is three stories tall and is the military area.I'm thinking of doing some modifications to it, because the keep is planned to have an area for being outdoors around three levels up.

Quarry where all that stone is being hauled from is the pit in the SW corner. Decided for the cave mining approach instead of the open-pit mine. Might be able to put a dungeon in there.

Those walls look really sweet.

How do you make a big map like that?

I might construct a third layer to add thickness, as that doesn't seem thick enough. This would require constructing a second and possibly third levels for such a thing, which I am not looking forward too. Once I'm happy with the outer walls or close enough around the keep, I'll start adding more details to the various parts, like building back the farms and workshops, and perhaps even completing the first part of the keep. The northern room will house the throne room, and the southern end is for, I dunno, what would you keep in those rooms?

Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Healedabby. Now mind you it is incomplete, as there are many things like finishing the stronghold, great hall and housing. Still, I'm on my way to completing this.

 Please, comments people.

Good job Duke. Looks great and can't wait to see it finished.

As to making a 100 years pass quickly, try making a tiny self sustaining fort, with plenty of materials to deal with moods. Shut the fort up, and let it run as long as you need it to. Beyond that... No other idea to rapidly pass time. Except for maybe in adventure mode.

I have been wanting to build my own castle for some time, just have not come across the right spot yet.

I believe it is on the wiki, the one made by Dorten. There is a thread about it somewhere around here...

You kept your wagon too?
I put the trade depot near the wagon, just because you only get one wagon.

But 3dwarf thinks makes it look like a 3x3 field. trees and everything.

Warning: Image is massive. Smallest I could crop this baby.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
So yes, progress. All of the wall towers are completed, as well as the foundations and the moat. Work starts on the church in the south, and the Mannor is fully complete. Also, Magicians tower within the manor grounds. Near the north gate will be the entrance to a small village. Where the massive bar stockpile is(I left everybody with mason on in six masons workshops on repeat bar making. I'm still getting rid of everything, and I don't have enough wood to make bins for it all) will be the great hall.

Now a question: I'm going to fill the moat with water. Now, should I keep the ramps or get rid of them? Or just keep the ramps in places that could save people from drowning?

All I need to do now is check if I have all the requirements...
