Second American Civil War
« on: January 08, 2009, 09:03:26 pm »

Somebody mentioned that LCS is based off left-wing rebellions in South America. And in South America, there are many left-wing militas who controls forests and style themselves great political leaders while occupying vilalges and ruling them like their own fiefdom. Soon, the main government would sign a peace treaty with the armed milita, allow the armed milita to compete in elections, and see either the armed milita take over the government...or see the armed milita restart the war.

What I'm stating is, is it a good idea to let the LCS control a small city and style itself as the legitimante rulers of the United States, instead of just doing terror attacks in the hopes that the Liberal Party gets elected? Usually, the idea of overthrowing the entire United States government is one the Radical Crime Squad would do, but...

um... it's based off Symbionese Liberation Army, a group from USA, North America. USA is known for it's fairly stable government, and lack of jungles.

indeed. there should be a special activity: planting jungles! after 10'000 man-days you should get the ability to evade government raids (some of them anyway), take over mudhut villages (free recruits!), and grow you own cocaine (more income from brownies, and free drugs in interrogations).  :D

The problem is that I highly doubt the American government would just sit there and let a radical terrorist group take over towns without intervening, and even if they did they certainly wouldn't let them run for President.

[US Government] certainly wouldn't let [Radical terrorist group] run for President.
I always assumed anyone can be president, whether he is known terrorist, has a criminal record, or has radical ideas.

Orson Scott Card wrote a book in which a radical liberal group attacked New York City with mechs and hoverboards and occupied almost half the country at one point.  There were defeated by the Moderate Strike Force in the end though.

The book in question, Empire, strikes me as slightly less realistic then LCS.
