Zombie Games!
« on: January 08, 2009, 08:17:50 am »

Exactly as the title says folks.

I haven't been getting my prescribed amount of zombie killing lately, so i've decided to put it to the twisted folks here at bay 12 to see if they have what i need.

I'm looking for a zombie game, one that allows you to build barricades explore a city, looting shops, fighting off a horde of undead aged pensioners when you 'accidently' raid the old folks home.

So my question is this. Dose a game like this exist or will i have to be satisfied with daydreams.

They are flash. Meh...
But The Last Stand 2 seems to be fun. I've almost done it :). Btw 31 days alive.

If you don't mind bad graphics I'd suggest Survival Crysis Z, it has weird companion system and sometimes stupid zombie respawns (a horde out of a door from the building where you were just a minute ago), but it has a story line, items, companions (stupid companions which like to die) etc. ))).

Ah yes, SCZ is a true gem.  Blasting away hordes of zombies while your buddy stands around and decides to talk to you about how hungry he is instead of shooting at the infected shopkeeper who's eating his brains.  Not that he needed them anyways...

Last Stand 2 is actually relatively easy, I think I only got halfway to the time limit before I managed to get out.

That city area is hell though...  Pure hell.

Ho, I explored every place on the way so I was 4 days late x(.

Days survived: 46, zombies put to rest: 1390.

I've got shotgun, colt, bow, grenades, uzi, ump, m4a1, rifle, 4 comrades and ton of traps. And I was late *cry*.

L4D is a new classic, and Dead Rising is worth playing, but they are kinda mainstream (AKA you should know them)

Zombies!!! is a neat boardgame that does most of that, especially with the expansion stuff.

Urban Dead : No experience, found on the web

Urban Dead is dumb.

You get like 50 turns to do stuff, which is nowhere near enough to kill even one zombie, and if you run out of time before the zombie dies, guess what?  You're dead, another zombie will get you.

Also, the fights aren't even interesting because about 80% of the time the other person won't even be there.

Other then "It is popular" I don't really feel the mainstream effect on Left For Dead or Dead Rising.

They are both very difficult games that do have quite a bit of a learning curve.

Left 4 Dead is awesome.  If you have the money, get it.  It's great.

Dead Rising...  I really wanted to like it, and I expected to like it when I played the demo, but the fun lasted for like two minutes, and then I was just running through, trying to see if something new would happen.

Also, Zombies!!! is coming to XBLA some time this year.   I haven't played the game, but it looks really cool.  I was trying to find an online version so perhaps a forum game could be set up, but it doesn't look like there is one.

Anyone with superior googling skills want to have a go at finding one?

That's because the goal of Urban Dead isn't to kill the zombie, it is to live. Hide in a building, barricade that building up very high, and run away whenever the zombie break through. Stockpile on medkits to heal your infections and any damage you get, and stay alive as long as possible. You could also assist in seiges, which usually involve killing zombies that break in, barricading the building so that zombies don't break in, and healing any damage, altough sieges usually tend to end with zombies winning.

If you do die, just find a revive point, get yourself revived, and do it all over again.

Hmm, you just made the game seem rather pointless...

What was that HL 1 mod that came out in 3 parts?  That was pretty awesome 1p zombie killin'

It could never really be demoed in my oppinion. Though I don't suggest it. It can get boring rather quickly... or just simply unreasonably frustrating (Fighting a boss then getting 5 survivors to the safety point while cultists attack AND it is night time?)

I thought it was pretty easy, but then I never got ALL the survivors...  (Was getting them all, then realized you had to advance the plot, too, to get one particular one)

It's a hard hard game to do 100%, but easy easy to get through alive to the easy ending (even a zombie could do it).

I REALLY liked how additional playthroughs unlocked extra stuff

I tried Pandemic 2 from Zombie Games site and it's quite a cool strategy for a flash game. Do you know is there a game with more details and more complexion where you control virus/bacteria/parasit evolution too and take over the world?

The best you can do with that game is pretend that you are making a zombie horde...

Not what I would look for in a zombie game.
