Cowardly Skirmishers
« on: January 06, 2009, 05:44:37 pm »

A Elven Caravan has arrived.
They take a few steps and...
An ambush!
I check it out and see goblins and one elven swordsman. I think "Meh, they're only elfs, they deserve it" and unpause.
Everyone just scatters and due to the proximity of the map edge they run straight off it.
The whole thing struck me as rather odd but amusing, Why did they all run? The caravan i understand but the rest? And i don't think that the Swordsman was with the goblins as i've had single elfs ambushing before in this fort.

The elves run like hell, and the goblins chase after. Now look up in the legends who got caught.

I must say i was rather suprised, when i zoomed to the place the Goblis stood rather mixed with the caravan so i surely expected a slaughter.
One possibility is that goblin archers ran but that would mean that the whole ambush party consisted of goblin archers, which have never happened to me atleast.

Elven caravans don't bring guards. The ambush was lead by a babysnatching victim raised to serve the goblins

Actually in this case, i don't think so but i can be wrong.
It happened before, a single elf appeared when i got the Ambush! message, He swiftly dispatched the kitten that found him and proceeded into my garrison and got hammered to death. Does a babysnatched elf abandon their hippy dressing? Because this one was only using pigtail cloth.
Anyway, the whole event was rather odd but now we can add the ability to rout raiders to the bloodthirsty, cannibalistic elves.

Pigtail Cloth is made out of plants in the game called "Pig Tails". Dwarves farm them.

Why yes, please forgive me as i have misspoken. It's the fabric of immigrant pesants and their likes, destined to rot and be replaced by multiple layers of mud & blood that most dwarves cultivate into a natural armor if they live long enough.
Are there any other points of importance that you wish to enlighten us to?

The elf in question had rope reed clothing that i immediately discarded into the nearby volcano and considering my relation with elfs in general, which can be described as "disinterested unless they're beeing slaughtered", my knowledge of elven goods is limited to the categories of "worthless" & "Sunberry".
Guess what rope reed is classified as.

To clarify things, i thought that the elf was a lone raider fom some nearby elven culture with hostile intentions due to the odd behaviour during the event, but later groups of raiders have brought elves so now I just blame it on stupid goblins.
