How the heck do i get this to work?

I was going to mod in a ton of armor and weapon types to spice up the game a bit, but i can't even get my test armor to be available for crafting.

This is the item entry:

[NAME:Centurion Plate:Centurion Plate]
[PREPLURAL:suits of]

[VALUE:100]
[ARMORLEVEL:3]

And this is the tag i put in the civ's list:
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_Centurion_Plate:COMMON]

What am i doing wrong?
(P.S I did make a new world to test it)

Dwarf Fortress modding is case-sensitive.

[ITEM_ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_Centurion_Plate]
[ARMOR:ITEM_ARMOR_Centurion_Plate:COMMON]

Centurion_Plate Should be CENTURION_PLATE

Also

[NAME:Centurion Plate:Centurion Plate]

Should be:

Code: [Select]
[NAME:centurion plate:centurion plate]

I think it's a vastly amusing thought that elephants are so afraid of heights that when Dwarves invented the Z-axis, they couldn't bear to face dwarves in combat anymore.

Did you check your errorlog?

This is gonna sound stupid, but... "THE HECK IS AN ERROR LOG?"

EDIT: found the error log, all it has in it is pathing errors for carp

Looks fine to me. Is your computer on? Are you sure you're playing dwarf fortress?

look. my computer has a way of magically making things not work for no reason whatsoever. I'm going to give up as it will NEVER let me actually mod anything once it has decided not to let me. In short, this is now officially a lost cause

[NAME:Centurion Plate:Centurion Plate]
Should be:
Code: [Select]
[NAME:centurion plate:centurion plate]

This actually only determines in game names, so if it has the capitals it just means that in game instead of showing up as "centurion plate", it will show up as "Centurion Plate". The only real effect that the [NAME:?] tag has is an aesthetic one.

That got it. Thanks. Now to add a horde of weapons and armor to the game 8)

I'm thinking of adding hardened leather armors, Brigadine, Centurion Plate, Front Plate, Chain guard, Chain capes, Cleavers, pick hammers and a whole lot of other stuff

Alright. Centurion plate is now working the way i want. Takes 4 bars to make, weighs almost double platemail, and offers great protection. excellent for defending certain narrow and twisting tunnels.

On to more armor. any suggestions or requests?

I was thinking of adding some hybrid weapons like cleavers (cutting and bludegeoning damage) and pick hammers (bludegeon and pierce)
