Hacking adventure mode
« on: January 04, 2009, 05:25:29 am »

I heard about companion. But never about it's use in adventure mode. I am wondering if I can use anything to:

Make my adventurer right handed (I seem to get a lot of lefties.)
Give my adventurer legendary stats and weapons.
Grinding more easily.

Companion can give you legendary stats, and remove the need for grinding.  Weapons?  No.  Change your hand preference?  Maybe, but you'd have to really know what you're doing.

Hand status isn't used in Fortress mode.
Companion thus doesn't have its flags in the list.
Course, there ARE a whole lot of unidentified ones...
But you risk screwing the game over on the very slight possibility that one of those flags is handedness.
Why do you need to change your handedness, anyway?
Lefties and righties are exactly the same, except for your inventory/picking up weapons.

Because pinching Elven nipples (upper body, with clothes removed.) is more fun when you're right handed.

You can use either hand for wrestling.

I know. But when I throw my sword away, I prefer my right hand being free. Besides, it's easier to visualize the fight scenes when my adventurer has the same handedness as me. (Well you could say I'm ambidextrous. But not in everything.) Like I said, pinching elven nipples with the left hand isn't as much fun. Try and visualize that combat scene. Throw your sword at the elf, grab her clothes off and pinch one of her nipples before slashing her head off.

Companion can be used to turn you into Batman.
Or Ironman.
Or Charlie.
Or a dragon.

I usually play with Companion on and I use it as radar. It lets me know which creatures are around and their relative coordinates. Sometimes it drives me crazy when I play without companion and see "a batman bites a horse into lowerbody" but can't find the source. Also it helps to find wandering megabeasts.

Strike the elf with your sword in the lower body for bonus points.  ;)

I wish we could aim attacks and choose with what body part to attack.

Also, necropost.
