I just died.

I had a shotgun which i won from a bet house, had roughly over 100 000 gold, Climbing Gloves, Compass, Spike Shoes, you name it, was on the final boss, with only three layers of floor left.

Then a frog spawns in my place and kills me.

Or killed by a bat one step from the last door because you didn't see him and were running too fast.

I too have died after killing the final boss.

I rushed a bit, ended up on the wrong side of the hole.
Then I threw up one rope, climbed to the top, and jumped right into the lava.
I've been there like 3 times now but i've messed up uniquely each time.

Currently at just over 1000 deaths. (I usually run around and get myself killed,)

I killed the final boss then fell in the pit of lava before...

You know what's really cool? Making the boss fall into the lava, jumping ontop of him as he's sinking, then throwing up a rope and climbing out just before you're engulfed in lava. It's not exactly safe, but it's really cool to do.

I finally beat the game after like 1011 deaths. At first I thought you HAD to go to the City of Gold so I'd just restart if I missed the black market or the Eye.

The first few times I got to the second area I just died instantly from the spike towers.

The first few times I got to the third area I just died instantly from the bottomless pit.

The first few times I got to the fourth area I just died instantly from the sliding blocks.

I think the thing that kills me most often is the sprint button though.

The last boss is a lot easier if you have the mummy staff.

The game is lots of fun when you have a Jetpack and a shotgun.

One time I was doing really awesome, with the kapla, 7 hp, a shotgun, jetpack, climbing boots, specs and a pitchers mitt. also 99 bombs.

I collected a new record in both damsels and almost for gold, as I had the jetpack almost from the start of the game. I was heading through one of those 2 block high hallways using my jetpack to stay levitated over any surprise blocks that might sweep through the bottom.

Wham, levitated spike block to the face.
Never even saw the room it generted in.

The floaty insta-death blocks don't have a trigger radius larger than the viewable screen. You must have been carelessly going as fast as you could to have activated one before you could react.

Lesson learned: Take your time in the fourth area. I can run and jump and gallavant through the third area just fine, but when it comes to the fourth, I'm tip-toeing EVERYWHERE. Make liberal use of bombs to remove the insta-death blocks, the lava pits, mummies, and other annoyances. Before dropping down into any room, duck to shift the camera downward and try to discern the location of any possible dangers first, and if you can't make use of ropes to inch yourself down. Dead serious, don't screw around when there's insta-death around every corner. Also, if in a 2-block high hallway, be extra careful because without a jetpack, you CANNOT jump over the insta-death blocks.

This game is so mean to me. I know it hates me, but I keep coming back for more. My sneaking suspicion is that the shortcut to World 3 is a trap, as you get a piddly amount of gold to buy the next shortcut, and almost no items. Not to mention the world generation in level 3 was designed by diablo.

I found the Ice levels much easier than the jungle levels. The ice levels at least generate in vague pattern of columns and rows.
