I want to find the city of gold, but the sequence of events that lead up to it is monstrous, and the urge to act like a retard is too great.

"Hmm...I'm only a few screens away from the last area, but there is a shopkeeper here with a shotgun..."

Source of my latest death. Didn't get the ankh, but figured I could learn something.

The climbing gloves are my favorite item, tied with the spring shoes.

I mean, Yeah, the jetpack and the shotgun and the cape are all really useful, but the climbing gloves have the following pluses.

-fairly common shop item
-only costs 15,000 dollars
-makes climbing alot safer
-opens up more options the sooner you get it
-lets you grab onto ledges that are suspended 3 tiles above you, and you can hop up normally. Sort of an improvised spring shoes in a way.

combined with the spring shoes, Indie's exploration opportunities more than double. If it weren't for the fact that you can get a jetpack for free, it would probably be obsoleted by it's rarity.

As per throwing flares at frogs to make them flaming frogs. Which doesn't work, as I have done it. I don't think flaming frogs actually produce light, but that would help. Now, what happens when a frog jumps into lava...
or a dropped flare

You make no sense Granite. Your just a no-sense-maker.

You're like an Easy Bake Oven except, instead of making delicious cookies, you make non-sequiturs.

Finally beat it! It took 376 tries, but I made it.

I even beat the boss once before winning, but didn't have enough rope to get to the exit.

Anyone else had a lot less trouble with the 3rd shortcut than the second?

Well, the third shortcut is supposed to be harder, it's 300 grand.

The boss gave me alot of trouble, I actually killed the boss twice before I managed to win.

I always reach the boss with the mummy rod, so no problems there. I actually died to him recently when I was trapped on the wrong side of the pit.

And, oddly enough, I just laughed.

Oh yeah, thes Sceptor makes that fight way easier. If only because it can exterminate all the little critters that he spawns with the greatest of ease.

?  If you leave a flare in the ground, and a blue frog jumps on it, could that set him on fire?  (as opposed to a thrown, damage dealing flare).

That's the long version.
literally : Now, what happens when a frog jumps into lava... or a dropped flare

Hardly nonsequiter to finish the trailed off sentence.  In fact, the polar opposite.

Alright, this was tested with a custom level: But these are my results:

Flares do nothing to them, either thrown or left on the ground.

Magma, oddly enough, doesn't effect them. It's like water. Could be an effect of it being a custom level, but normal frogs go through it like water. Now testing with fire frogs.

Edit: Magma turns fire frogs into normal frogs. Also, the latest version of Spelunky has a level editor. Just press f3 to access the custom levels, or press f2 to make your own.

Well, for all intents and purposes, a flare is just a rock that gives off light. You can't set anything on fire with it.

About the frog jumping into lava thing, I honestly don't know. Frogs don't appear in the fourth area, the only area that has magma pools.

I heard that theirs a level editor type program floating around somewhere, if you got that, then I guess you could find out. Although, my guess would be:

A) the frogs die when they touch the lava
or
B) the frogs don't die, seeing as how they're not programmed to be in the fourth area ordinarily. They might treat it like water.

EDIT: I wrote all that just to get sniped good by Duke. Good snipin' duke, good snipin'.

It was worth testing.

It doesn't sound like lava hurts anything... no frogs, no mummys... Damsels? Shopkeeps?

Well, Damsels are hurt by the environment. That's a no brainer.

However, I know for a fact that shopkeepers are hurt by lava. I had a pissed off one waiting for me at the exit once, and as he was hopping around trying to get me, he accidentally jumped into a lava pool and died.

If we assume that lava is analogous to water, then we could also throw spiders in that group too, seeing as how spiders die when they touch water, and spiders are in pots.
