How do you deal with those giant spiders that sometimes pop up? Bombs, whipping, rocks, ect simply don't kill it, and it one shots me.

The ones that cling to webs? throw a bomb at the webs. It'll stick to them, and then blow them up (you can also then get sticky bombs)
But not even a bomb will kill them!
That's interesting, a bomb stuck to their webs should by all means kill them every single time. As long as you toss them in the actual webs without hitting the spider, which will cause it to drop to the ground and therefore avoid the bomb blast. If it doesn't die from that, then something is terribly wrong. Are you using the correct version?

Hell yeah, just completed the game in 9:30.  Now I have all the achievements and Tunnel Guy.

I've never found the last boss hard... somehow I always end up with a jetpack and a sceptre before then.  And this time I'd plundered a large amount of bombs from all those shopkeepers I killed, so I just wildly threw them at the middle of the stage and dug a hole very quickly.

There was one time I could have got to the city of gold, but I decided not to sacrifice my Ankh.  Which is just as well since I later got saved by the ankh, and that was the game where I got the "saves" and "money" achievements, so...

Bombs will kill them. You just need to make sure they're in the blast radius when it goes off, which can be tricky sometimes.

And if you're a total badass, you can jump on them and repeated bounce on them, riding them around until they die from the stomp damage.

Boulders also smush them good.

Be careful with that. Spelunky has some weird issues with timing, so you might pass too far through the spider and get injured while stomping them.

And yeah, a bomb stuck to the very bottom of the web may or may not kill them. Again, there are timing issues, so how far "up" the web it travels before getting stuck can vary a bit. You want to throw at the side of the web if possible, or at very high speed.

"Throw a bomb at the web" has worked for me every single time I've been able to do it.  The only exception is when they're positioned so awkwardly you can't get a bomb at their web without hitting them/ being underneath them - in this case I can usually put a bomb next to them or else just try to run past somehow.

108 death later, and I haven't even gotten to the bottom of the first jungle stage.

Protip: if you try to kill a giant spider through a wall with a bomb, the wall absorbs the blast damage but it still pisses off the spider.

It took me 900 games to finish the game once, so don't worry :
Eventually, you will get to the end.

131 deaths, and I've finally got a shortcut to level 5.

Don't worry your on par, it took me like 600 tries to beat the game once, then I beat it again like 10 tries later.

I have more than a thousand deaths, and I've only ever beaten the game using the final shortcut.

Personally I have a bit of trouble with the final shortcut, since you have a very low chance of getting a jetpack/climbing gloves/other great items and a lower then regular chance of getting the kapala.

I don't think I would have won yet (well I probably would have, but in like 400 more deaths) if I hadn't discovered the black market, it's such a big help that it makes the whole game after you reach it (with enough money to afford a jetpack+gloves+spiked boots) a degree less difficult, especially if you get the Ankh without getting killed once by a shopkeeper.

Wow that trailer shows a ton of new stuff, I will be pretty upset if they don't release a PC version of it.
