They are probably mostly permanent unfortunately. I don't like them either, the old style fit much better. On the good side though, it makes it more accessible to people who wouldn't normally play spelunky. I hope he includes a classic graphics mode.

It looks prettier, but way way too cartoony.
I'm expecting a Worm to pop out, yell "You traitor!", and fire a homing pigeon.

I like the lighting. I don't really care for the rest.

Them frogs are pretty keeewl looking.

Other than them, nothing else really feels like the original, but than again it's not suppose too. I feel like the new graphics are trying to cater to all types of groups, colorful, cartoony and um... pretty looking; add some violence and you have an artistic direction that appeals to a vast majority!

Also anyone else notice the arrow sticking from Speluker's hat? ^-^

I won't get it.

Nah, these aren't "Wut" graphics.  These are "Lolwut" graphics.

I wager they're alright.  I mean, those ARE pretty awesome frogs.

the distinct squares of terrain kinda bug me, though.

But, I play Spelunky with an Xbox controller anyway, and I play it for free.  So yeah.

It's a nice graphic style. Different, and it has it's own pros and cons. It's definitely more suited to the Xbox marketplace than the original graphics.

So, lets necro an old topic. Anyone still playing this thing? It's all me and my college mates play at the moment.

I've racked up like 3 wins over 500 tries. If only I tried this hard at networking.

I guess it's a good thing indie developers are making money like that (I sure hope they are, at least...), but I seriously don't get it. I dont have an xbox, but arent those just.... cute looking PCs with a lot of poor excuses, horrible heat problems and subpar input devices?

So.. is it actually that hard to get windows running on those xbox thingies?

Xbox is essentially a "pay us £200, and we can guarantee any game you buy for this will run, on the best settings".

The overheating thing was played up to hell. My xbox has overheated and died twice. Each time I got a brand new one free and an extra month of xbox live free for 48 hours of inconvenience.

Aside from that, i really don't think they were meant to be PC's. They're similar, but they weren't designed for it.

What I mean is... they basically ARE using hte same OS already, or at least are using parts which can communicate with windows just fine. Or not?

I got this to work at school and, it's a hit! I forsee many failures in the future as this spreads across the school's network.

I looked into this again, but found that my savefile has somehow disappeared. :'(

EDIT: Or not. Just ran it again, and my savefile is back! :D No it wasn't. Just jumped for joy too early. :(
