That, plus potentially learning something. Maybe port it to other operating systems if it's possibly.

It's been said very recently that the game is made in GameMaker, so no, the "source code" you're thinking of isn't available. It's just the GameMaker files that were used to make the game, so unless GameMaker itself allows you to compile for different operating systems, you wouldn't be able to.

It's also not a huge deal, since GameMaker programs can actually be trivially decompiled/debugged to reveal the source anyway; none if it seems to be lost during compilation.

Just started out, I've racked up 29 deaths, but have only got as far as level 3. Found a shotgun a couple of times, and a mattock once.

Sorry, that was not one of the all-time classic posts, I will try again..
MY FAVOURITE STUPID DEATHS SO FAR
  • Picking up an item in the shop, then accidentally throwing it at the shopkeeper rather than dropping it, thus incurring his wrath.
  • Picking up a damsel in the kissing (knocking?) shop, putting her back down again because I can't afford 20k gps, only for her to run away from the shop screaming, thus incurring the wrath of the shopkeeper.
  • Jumping past a trap I hadn't noticed before, the arrow narrowly missing me. A lucky escape! I absent-mindedly pick up the projectile and toss it away, only for it to ricochet off a block and kill me.
  • Carefully throwing a rock to set off a trap, only for the arrow's trajectory to find another lethal angle of ricochet.
  • Being on 1hp and walking into the back of a snake because it stopped unexpectedly. This is the stupidest and most common death of all - it usually happens right after I've rescued a damsel and found a nice cache of bombs.

My first death was from an Indiana Jones trap. I grabbed the statue, and a rock chased me and crushed me.

the only time I really hated the 'frozen zone' was when dropping bombs into a snake pit. I expected it to make some snakes go boom, but no, it blew up midair purely because of frozen zone.

I dislike the ghost intensely.  Having to rush through levels because of it is unfun.

Anyway, due to gaming ADD I have never played past the second area-type.  The jungles.

Once, I found a shotgun on like level 1 or 2.  That was AWESOME.  Later on I found one of those shops that sell like capes and climbing gloves and stuff, so I shot the shopguy dead and stole all his swag.  I gunned my way through to like level 3 or so of the Jungle, where the game decided to throw a dark level at me.

I decided to compensate for the lack of flare-holding ability (tossed one out and sort of kept tossing it further as I went along, but it ended up falling into a pond or something) with my shotgun's ability to illuminate stuff with it's flash, and lots of rushing.  Ended up dead, of course.  As I recall, a piranha got me.  1HP, and missed with my whip as I was trying to rescue my shotgun from it's pond.

Also, if someone hasn't seen this video yet, here you go.

Never throw a sticky bomb while holding a damsel.
I ALWAYS forget about this. I can't even count how many times I screwed up this way.

And that video link above led me to this video.

I hated the jungles but once you get past them a start playing the other areas they become easier on subsequent play throughs.

Once, I found a shotgun on like level 1 or 2.  That was AWESOME.

On a recent play through I found a shotgun on the first level. 2 levels later I found ANOTHER shotgun. It was a good play through until I got stuck in a infinite yeti tossing match.

First ten minutes of play I ate my loincloth and then got some limbs torn off by a super friendly rat. Thumbs up from me.

That's the only bad thing about this game. You can get out of any situation but that one. Deaths are pretty much solely because of the user.

Easy way to kill a shopkeeper:

Buy a pistol from him.

Shoot him a ton.

Yay.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Don't take the gun out of the shop, pick it up and don't stop shooting until there's no more blood left to come out.
