Out of curiosity, has anyone ever tried to kill a shopkeeper with the ghost? It sounds more trouble than its worth but who knows...

I tried, it does nothing, they ignore each other.

That [Magma] is a bit deep down there, don't you think?
You really aren't thinking like a dwarf.

If you think it is down too far, you move it up until it reaches an acceptable elevation.

I've seen the shopkeeper stand right next to a maneating plant! They are practically at peace with the cave ecology.

I think it is all just a big scam to make you work for them.

I mean their outrageous prices! I could buy a mansion for what ordinary gloves cost.

Well gmabling seems kind of... broken. You have a 1/6 chance of winning an item, then a 5/12 chance of winning double your money and 5/12 chance of losing. So effectively unless you are really poor or unlucky you can just keep playing till you get a chill and end up with loads of stuff.

I thought it was a 6/12 of losing, a 1/12 of winning an item, and then 5/12 of winning money. Seems like it's still in the house's favor to me.

Anyway, I finally got to experiment with that blood crown. It was pretty sweet. Free health forever!

It's a two part scam - say there is treasure at the end - then make it almost impossible to reach  - with really tempting shops littered everywhere. It's a good thing they don't offer loans - otherwise you'd end up having to give them the treasure.

Yeah, I bet they purchase another one of those big idols every time someone comes and takes it, just to lure in another would-be adventurer.

The cave itself is full of goodies, but much too dangerous to collect themselves, so they have the adventurers do it for them, and they all collude together to keep the prices insanely high, so everyone makes a profit!

I bet Olmec is just a big machine with a shopkeeper inside operating it, and when it falls into the lava, they wait for the adventurer to leave, and then pull it out with a magnet or something and rebuild the entire arena.

Don't forget, that the only time the stuff leaves the place is when you win, so every time you die, one of em probably gets selected to go recollect your stuff. "This jetpack is covered in blood." "So?" "What happened to the last owner?" "Not enough left of him to tell."

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Naw, I bet it's those cavemen, cultists, and aliens that collect your stuff. It's probably why you sometimes find equipment inside of crates.

Your probabilities are way, way off.

When rolling two dice, for one thing, there aren't even 12 possible totals you can get. They range from 2 to 12, so that makes 11.

Also, some combinations are obviously more common than others. In fact, the most probable outcome you get from rolling two dice IS a 7.

Here's a chart: http://wizardofodds.com/gambling/dice.html

Your odds of rolling a 7 on two dice is actually 6/36, or 1/6, or about 16.7%.
The probability of rolling higher than 7 turns out to be the same as the probability of you rolling lower than 7, so you're still equally likely to lose money as you are to make money, but overall, your probability of "winning" (either getting an item or getting double your money back) is more like 58.3%.

To break it down, you have a 15/36 chance of losing your money, a 15/36 chance of getting double your money back, and a 6/36 chance of getting an item.

The reason your probabilities were so off is because you were interpreting it as if you were rolling a single 1-12 die, in which case you would have been right.

See, this is why I'm not a statistician. I suppose I should be grateful that the odds are in my favor. That is, they're in my favor if the prize isn't completely worthless. Seriously, I don't NEED or WANT another compass!

Though I wish He'd change it to a Poppy Dice Sphere, or a Life Spinny Arrow Deal, or a single 12-sided die so I could get in more bets in a smaller frame of time.
