Google, has a small (relatively) section devoted to explaining their privacy policy. Here's the funny thing, whenever I start a search on google, after I type the first letter, it gives me a list of all of the searches that I've done for that letter, ever!

For example, when I type in 'l' ot shows me 'lake of the woods fishing' and 'la feme nikita dvd' amongst others.

It seems strange that google records that. I don't think that it is my computer, as I've erased the histroy and changed the google settings to 'don't display suggestions.'

Is it possible for me to erase these things, or make them not appear? They're annoying!  Especially when I look back and see all of the mispellings that I've made! (sokdier being a notable one)

Well, you could delete any account you have with Google and erase any cookies, that might clear the cache.

But I think most search engines will keep track of search data (for future reference of course), so you'll be best off using a proxy to do any searches you don't want to be...ahem...caught doing.

It seems that Servant Corp's suggestion of blocking all cookies has worked.  That didn't last long.

However, it also logged me out of this forum. I wonder how I'd go about just blocking google cookies.

EDIT: Strangely, it removed them from web search, but not from the image search. The image search seems to be showing everything though, including stuff that is not image searchable (like first lines of poems that I need to check on an author for).

That's actually a feature of your browser, not Google itself. It's the same for any input box. Just tell your browser to nuke those things and they won't pop up.

Well, it is moreso other things. At least, that's what I think.

 If you use Firefox, there is a feature under Tools, Options under the Privacy tab that asks if you want entries in search bars to be saved. That should fix it.
