Giant Eagles Won't Breed.

I have three tame giant eagles (one male, two female) which I bought and they steadfastly refuse to create raw omelets. It has been two years and I have had the other two breeding species reproduce during this time frame. I am well below the animal population cap, they aren't chained or caged, and they don't appear to have anything obvious interfering. Any ideas why they aren't producing little eaglelets?

Bad luck I guess? They should breed...and they will probably, just be patient.  ;)

Giant eagle is stored by default in creature_large_mountain.txt
If you've been fiddling with the raws at all, check to make sure that the giant eagle still has the [CHILD:1] tag. If it's missing the child tag then you won't get little hatchlings. Apart from that, I can only really recommend patience.

Or alternatively wait longer, I've had times when some animals I just got/tamed wouldn't breed for years despite mate avaliablity. Once I had a bull and cow pair that didn't produced kids until 4th year in  ;D

exotic animals wont breed until the dungeon master turns up. I know, when mine arrived I had about five hundred GIANT TOAD HAS GIVEN BIRTH messages every ten seconds for about a year and a half in game. At least I knew to look for an underground river after that.

Rationability has failed you. Chain them together in a dark room surrounded by traps. Tie the chains to a screw pump lever which pumps away water, tie it in a way so the only way to pump it is to make sexual moments. Start flooding the room with water until they have copulated properly.

Cage bug maybe? I heard that some animals stop breeding once caged

Animals in cages will not breed. If they are pregnant when they go in they will give birth, but they will not conceive if they are in a cage.

Ah, so that's why my caged animals had babies...I tend to set them free after a short in-game period anyway.

This is probably what it is as I don't have that noble yet. That pretty much means this fortress is on hold for a while as much over 30 dwarves and molasseses starts to ooze from the keyboard.
