I tied making a tarrasque for my mod too. It did great in the legends, and did a good job of keeping the world population from getting out of control in long world gens, but whenever it appeared in fortress or adventurer mode, it always died shortly thereafter because I could never get the body parts arranged quite right. Too bad, now my other megabeasts get killed off within around 30~50 years by the dozen or so custom civs I made, now that the tarrasque isn't around to protect them.

SirHoneyBadger, the stuff you've got up here is cool, but man do you need to learn about using spoiler tags to hide ridiculous amounts of text.

I've started to define the Titans a bit. These guys are gonna be *fun*. They all have special traits, ranging from relatively minor, to very, very dangerous, on top of the standard Titan abilities.

With 36 different, tiny little civs, with the (limited) ability to forge items, I'm hoping that atleast some of them will survive to "modern times", where your dwarfs will have to deal with them.

They'll be limited to a total population of 7, and have a low birth rate, so at the very worst, it should be possible to wipe a breed of them out, if you're forced into a bad situation concerning them.

I must say, I am very interested in this mod, especially the new creatures and civs you'll be adding. As I understand it, you're waiting for the next release for castes and other raw additions/changes, correct?

Yes, that's correct, and thank you for your interest!

I'm going to submit requests for new body configurations in the "The time has come" thread, so hopefully someone will take charity on me and this project, and I'll get them back by the new update, but that could also become a limiting factor, since some of the Titans (in particular) are going to have very challenging bodies--they're meant to be pretty far from anything "natural".

Without help, I doubt this mod will be finished anytime soon, since I work full time and am married (and easily, if only temporarily, distracted).

I decided to list some new/additional ideas for this mod, considering that we're getting closer to the next update (and I've made some progress on getting a new computer):

I'm going to include a couple reptilian species.

The first will be pretty much extinct--or close to it. They'll be the last remnants of a truly ancient dinosaurid civilization that had the ability to do (magical and/or scientific) genetic engineering, and they left behind a very small number of "living weapons", which will be semi-megas based around dinosaurs.

The second is going to be a small, fast, reptilian race, not entirely unlike kobolds, but living in jungles mainly, and with (someday) the ability to scale vertical walls, ceilings, etc. without the benefit of rope. They'll be at war with my "jungle ape" civ, and have a deep knowledge of poisons and ambush.

The third will be a somewhat crocadilian species who's males will be several times larger and more dangerous, individually, than the females, while the females will be more militant, disciplined, and organized.

There will also be the addition of a new semi-megabeast, the Golden Elephant Toad (actually a "poisonous harlequin toad"), which will be amphibious, quite large (size 12?), and poisonous, with a little Damblock.

Another addition will be the attempt to create a
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
, with an unusual body structure (5 clawed arms, 3 legs, no actual head, just a big gaping orifice in it's chest, lined with hundreds of shark teeth), very strong, very fast, with extremely fast healing.

I've decided to modify cyclopes a bit. Since it's been suggested that the "cyclops" myth actually originates from a poor understanding of mammoth skulls, I've decided to take that to it's next level, and give cyclopes two enormous tusks on either side of their face. They'll also be getting a size boost, fire resistance, and some cold resistance, and a little damblock.

Ogres ("kin" to cyclopes, I've decided) will be getting three eyes, small tusks, and resistance to normal fire.

Troglodytes will also be examined. I'd like to do something "Pueblo/Hopi" with them. If possible, they'll be a civ ruled by undead mummies.

I may also alter the bronze colossus a bit, as well. My idea so far is to lose the "bronze" part, just call them 'Colossus', and make these guys fantasy versions of Mechs, complete with built-in weapon systems.

There will also be inclusion of various 'Fae' beings into the mod, including (so far):

Wichtlein
Sluagh

Also, Mountain Gnomes will be renamed 'Nisse', and Dark Gnomes will be renamed 'Tontti'. There will also be a third type called 'Nain'.

Dwarfs themselves will be modified to make them closer to my own ideas about dwarfs.

This will be designed to go *somewhat* with the Zoo mod, and incorporate items from other mods. It's definitely meant to be a "Meta-mod", since I lack the physical and mental energy to do absolutely everything I want to see put into the game, by myself. *Especially* considering the grand new update, and all the modding tools it looks like it will be incorporating.

By the way: If you're interested, keep an eye on this and the other big Wall-O-Text pages. I'll be modifying them pretty regularly, from this point onward.

And please feel free to post your thoughts. Constructive input is DEEPLY appreciated!

Long-lived and tougher vermin hunting critters that either do not breed (and must be imported somehow) or breed extremely slowly to counter the highly toxic critters.

Actually, I'm hoping this setup might counter catsplosions. Some of the cats will no doubt survive, becoming legendary vermin-hunters.

I'll be adding a line of pets, though, some of which (mongooses, falcons, cheetas, etc. as well as, possibly, different breeds of cats) should be able to make short work of most vermin.

I'm also hoping to add in a "caste" of larger, tougher cat, with extra toes, which will occasionally appear in a litter.

The really nasty vermin will be biome-specific, and may be difficult to deal with, if you're unfortunate enough to build your Fortress next to a large, active population of them.

I had to add in a couple new posts to hold all the vermin information.

I'm going to "replace" some critters in the game, by renaming and/or slightly tweaking them. Basically, they remain the same. One thing I don't like, aesthetically, are critters with too long of names (red-winged black bird. two-legged rhino lizard). In these cases, I'll shorten or alter the name, for simplicity's sake. I think it leaves more to the imagination?
