I know we have a steam thread, but I thought you guys might want to know that most games on Steam are on sale.

This includes things from XCOM to Valve's Left4Dead, Fallout3, Bioshock ($5), HL2, Civ4, Portal, TF2, Total War Series, Dawn of War, Company of Heroes, GTA series, Doom series, Unreal series, IL-2, Silent Hunter, X2/3, etc, all fantastic games you can play online again.

Why? Physical things like discs are more annoying (to me) to keep track of than my password, which I can access on any computer anywhere that has steam installed on it, thereby getting my games anywhere.

I'm just not a fan of paying for information is all. Plus, I have a manual fetish. Ever since I was able to read I haven't been able to stop myself from reading and rereading videogame manuals.

If only there were physical real life steam stores life would be so much easier.
I can't download from steam as I am limited to 2GB a month at 256Kbps and I don't have a credit card.

I thought download caps like that died at the turn of the century. I'm sortof in the same boat, though, speedwise.

Well actually I'm paying $3 a GB but my parents won't allow me to use more than two gigabytes worth.  Also that speed is not Kilo bytes per second but kilo bits per second, only 5 times faster than dial up. That also comes down to cost, my parents don't see the value of paying an extra $12 a month to get the speed up to reasonable levels (still less than 1MBps though).

The internet speeds and cost here has become such an issue that the government is starting to get involved, it was one of the main issues in the recent elections. Next month we might be upgrading to asdl2 but I doubt it.

You're not the only one.  It's abated lately, but only because I love digital distribution.

Even though my sister is a conniving little brat(She waits until my brother gets Fable 2 for Christmas to want to play XBox, and then says that we never let her play.  While it's true, we haven't let her play in a long time, she never asks), I have Bioshock to fall back on, which I got for

I thought like this until I got my new laptop over Christmas and installed HL2, mods, Starcraft and Diablo 2 from the interwebs using my online registered software (that I had purchased physical copies of).

Ugh, paying online for me is like paying for internet porn... while you can go to the girl next door and have fun in RL without paying.

I have a few steam games but I've bought them on CDs. It's much cheaper, one CS+HL2 CD costs ~ 12 dollars (not f*cking euros) here.
