Simon finally gets his act together and runs off into the distance to grab his spare space suit for the group. If the dust storm gets worse, he'll hide in whichever shelter he's nearest to.

I dunno much about this dust storm. You've been mentioning it for a coupla turns Aqizzar, but I wasn't really taking notice.

If the storm lasts longer than an hour (they can sometimes last months on mars) then try to stay entertained. If I can still talk to some people then see if there's anything I can help with over the radio. If not then try chat up some idlers to see what is going on with everyone else.

I'll grumble about my reactor non being sturdy enough. I warned the damn NASA pukes . . .

I'll try to arragne a burial for the techs then aid with whatever the group decides to do. Thinking about it, our group needs a chain of command. I'll suggest it to the group along with suggesting that we focus on finding survivors.

Louise suggests that with the help of the Auger and te other members of the group, that they might be able to roll the ractor over and tow it out of the module and to a better suited place.

Well, since Simon's run off, I suggest that Serg, Rosie, Andrezj and I get to work on the airlock.  Everyone else should probably just rest inside for a little while, maybe fiddling with some type of power generator (all you need is a magnet and wire).  If Simon gets back in time, I think Querty would be the most able-bodied after his rest and should get the last suit.

Of course, that's all just my opinion, if anyone has any better ideas, feel free to voice them.

Sean - The room is roughly dome shaped, maybe 15 feet at the center.  With a large robot to stand on, you can reach the light fixtures.  Also, the robots have radios of there own (that's how you're controlling them).  It takes a little finagling to get them to rebroadcast messages from you, since the module is down in a crater where it's own signal does propagate very far.  (Remember that without an ionosphere, radio range on Mars takes on a heavy line-of-sight consideration.)

I'll handle the specifics of the reactor in the turn.

I'd like to see about fixing the antenna on the rover at some point. Roy used to repair radios/talk to people on radios as a hobby. That'll require a suit and other people need those, so for now, I'll give my suit up and work on trying to make a generator. Hand crank, maybe?

No, I meant actual voice transmission. I don't have an extra mic and a speaker anywhere except in my own radio. If the bot encounters someone with a broken radio, I'd like to be able to communicate. If only to play the good old "Greetings Human. Welcome To Mars." joke on the poor soul. Btw, I plan to use the robot remains I have to set up a network of retransmitters for our comms, especially if the storm drags on for more than an hour or two.

If you don't think you can text message, you may not have been the right astronaut for this job.  The extra mic and speaker is a good point though.  There might be a few places to pick some up...

For a bit of clarification - this whole adventure takes place decades in the future.  Computers have some amount of voice integration, and can communicate with each other in plenty of different ways with a clever programmer at the controls.  In your case Sean, the lab's computer and radio are all one thing.

Yeah, I know I can retranslate my radio signal through the bot. I mean that if I wanted to speak to a stranded survivor without a radio, I'd need to be able to actually speak through the bot. Or at least make a text message, but I don't have any spare displays either. And I don't have any fancy controls here to do handwriting. Everybody Knows Morse though. :D

Yeah, I got the idea about wanting robot to have an actual voice.  Bear in mind, that talking to a survivor who doesn't also have a radio handy, would mean you've somehow gotten into an area with breathable air, that they almost certainly can't get out of.

Everybody Knows Morse though.

Everybody so does not.  Really, how many organizations anywhere still teach that?  Survivalist camps and military signal corps, and even then just as an academic reference.

But it's a good bet that most astronauts know Morse, since it does have usefulness in low-bandwidth communications.
