Squad Digger(6th round)

This is a simple-ish game inspired by Fenrir's 'Dig 3 Squares'.

Hopefully this vague copy-paste from my txt will suffice...

To join simply state your wish to join,claim a color,choose three characters,and select your starting position.Your starting position will be hollowed out(3x3 area) and your characters will be placed within.

1st game:

Players(I only allowed 3 for testing reasons):

Couldn't a guardian and two warriors (or a warrior and an archer, for that matter) almost definitely win by always staying adjacent? You'd need an enemy warrior to take out the guardian, but a friendly one could conceivably protect him. You might end up needing either an entire team of warriors or two cooperating teams to take out the guardian.

Cool idea for a game.

Oh yeah, what's your position on occasional non player monsters showing up? I think it would be interesting for players to sometimes come across something truly horrible, like an Ϡ, or something.

Also, how do you plan to represent characters? What about team colors and class symbols? A red team warrior could be W, for example, and a blue team healer could by H.

What if I cut out his invulnerability to projectiles?

Also,thanks for the link,but it doesn't seem to help me with alt codes all that much.

I also need to know how to use the alt code system without my browser jumping all over the internet.

Maybe make it so the guardian's version of the Guard Self ability protects against ALL projectiles for a turn, instead of the first one? You could make other classes only defend against one per action point, or something.

How many hit points do all the classes have? I assume the same number. And how about a specific chart with AP costs for certain actions? That way, you could list classes by HP and AP, followed by special abilities. You could, let's say, have 3 be the standard value for both AP and HP and then make a 4 AP, 3 HP class with no real special abilities, or something. Maybe a 4 HP, 3 AP class that can heal itself (and only itself) by one HP for one action point?

This is mostly stuff that would go in a later, tested game, but I'm captivated by the idea and can't resist. Good job.

Sounds good,people can just have those they want protected hunker down behind him and he won't turn invincible when the opponent sends the warriors in.

Also,on your edit,yes team's are displayed by color and character type by first letter.

Monsters can be rolled on every turn and given one action by the host on a extra 'monster's' turn,of course such things will be discussed with the players before addition...

Your later edit,each character has but a wee 3 HP

I'm also toying around with a resurrection gameplay element,which would allow players to spend all 3 AP to rez a fallen character at their starting point provided no enemies have captured the starting point.

That sounds pretty interesting. It would turn the game into a sort of capture-the-base thing (which would be good, in my opinion, because I like that sort of game). I just realized how AP actually works in this, too. I think that maybe individual AP per character might be good, because it would speed up play enormously and sort of encourage more exotic play styles.

For instance, a group with a mason, a healer, and a warrior might be able to use reinforced walls to make an artificial chokepoint and force the enemies to fight the warrior while the healer heals him. If it were a collective 3 AP per turn per player, it would probably be too tedious to build enough walls.

OP updated with map.

Keep in mind,this is going to be a 3 player game,the map is only small because of that.
