Outlandish Art Suggestion (Wesnoth)
« on: December 22, 2008, 06:25:44 pm »

I'm a massive fan of Dwarf Fortress, and I think it's great to see an independently developed game get to this level of functionality and be this awesome to play.
That said, I haven't racked up a huge number of hours on it, and I'm certainly no expert on any part of it - reading the development plans for the future does make me salivate though.

Anyway, I just wanted to suggest (mainly because I can't see that anyone else has suggested it before) that if any art style is ever considered for the game, like that beautiful prototype isometric screenshot by Mike Mayday, then the Battle for Wesnoth artwork is usable as it's licensed under GPL. Some of the Dwarves are already totally compatible, I would think.

Wesnoth itself is great, and second only to DF in terms of my respect for any indie game.

Thanks,
Pip.

I really doubt that the vanilla game will use any graphical tiles. It will remain ASCII, and it's all good. Modders can work on that part of the game. [Txt/gfx will be separated in the future...]
