So wait, has this explicitly become a DF reference, or are we still on Warhammer 40K?

I can't think of Armok being anything but Dwarf Fortress.

It's in the title after all.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

God, I've really got out of practise. Just died about four times without even getting past the Arena.

Also, displeased with Fireangel's new requirements. Shottyman is useless to a careful player... mind you, Fireangel only really ever was the icing on the cake for that old build.

just looking through the forums for DoomRL, turns out it was never a reference to WH 40K, but was before a tribute to DF, maybe the change is for clarification?

Highly unlikely, given that Armok's name was based not on any existing myth, but on the variable arm_ok.

Was that Kornel or am I missing something?
If so then whoa!
Isn't that a funny coincidence that I found DF from DooMRL forum?

Very fun, and a VERY close call at the end. I chose to use a tanky shotty buildy punctuated with MAotD, which would help with the limited inventory by giving me a single useful weapon to focus on. It was close though, very close. To give you a brief idea of what happened: I had gone through the mortuary thinking I coud skip it with a homing phase device. I went to the bottom right exit and I thought "Ba humbug, I want the nuclear BFG. Sneaking up along the wall to the northeast exit shouldn't be too hard..." only to be ambushed by some archviles and everything else that I didn't know were waiting for me. So I didn't get the health OR armor I thought I would, and I took quite a fair bit of damage. After ditching level 23 for the lava pits, and then skipping it completely because I never intend to complete the lava pits, I find myself on level 24, starting in a room... right smack dab in the middle of the level... and the arch-hordes are already upon me. A FLOOD of arachnotrons and cacodemons flood in through the door as a desperately try to shoot them off. I had recently received a pounded by some horribly ill-placed enemies, I was literally trapped in a room with the entire horde of an entire level trying to squeeze through the one door, and I had just used my one and only phased device in the mortuary, and my medkits weren't going to pull me out of this trouble if I tried to slog through the horde, and I was running much too low on ammo, so I couldn't fight them as I needed to save some for Cybie... so I had to improvise. I shot a magma barrel convenienty positioned in the corner of the room, blasting out the back of it. I run through several squares of lava rather than face the enemies, and doing this I manage to sneak out with a good chunk of my health remaining. Heading to a safe corner of the level to regroup, to find something that might help me as I wasn't sure if my current supplies could hold up to fighting Cybie, I find a miracle: an invulnerability globe right next to the last stairway! I take off my armor, grab it, and I head down, with Cybie spawning within my sight radius! I run up to him and just start blasting him at point blank range, and it must have taken twenty shots, but just as my invulnerability was wearing off, I deal the killing blow to Cybie and I win. Great fun.

The new exotics system is sort of a downer though, as they're SUPPOSED to be more common, but I can barely find any. It's like Exotics are the new uniques, and uniques are ultra-rare now. It's distressing.

YYYYYYEAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Holy shit that is tough. Berserk mode saved my ass a few times, like against the bruiser bro's, i ended up with one step of berserk and 24 health. necroarmour is the bestest thing ever for vampyre melee builds. I still have never beaten the angel of death, and was just using a technical chainsaw.

...technical chainsaw.
WHAT.
We can use mods other than bulk on melee weapons?

It should be noted that a bulk mod on a chainsaw is better than a power mod.

The reason behind this is simple: a chainsaw is a 4d6 weapon, with a maximum damage of 24. Putting a power mod on it makes it a 4d7 weapon, making it's maximum damage 28. However, if you put a bulk mod it on, it becomes a 5d6 weapon, with a max damage of 30.

I'm not sure if the changes to modding in the new version allow you to put more mods on it should you have whizkid.
