Shotguns seem useful for one purpose, and that is abusing a pathfinding trick. There are not nearly enough times where you are close to the enemy when you encounter them to justify such a massive damage dropoff.

I propose that in future patches all ultimate traits are as amazing as Ammochain. The AotD trait will grant no damage dropoff instead of armor piercing.

Or even better, both. Plasma shotgun, which I got one time, is not that useful, even if you're running a shotgun build that doesn't utilize AotD, if only because, once again, plasma cells are valuable and better spent with the BFG.

I've found the Plasma SG a couple of times. Used it quite a bit. 'course, I still haven't made it to lv25 in this version...

Do you have any idea why you're losing so frequently?

I wish I could find the anti-freak Jackal atleast once, and before the wall so I could tackle all the barons and knights in a straight line as opposed to a giant angry mob of them.

So tough.

I do really need to practice gift dropping,  but I overlook it since I often don't have the patience.

Why am I finding this out NOW?!

Also, is there any surefire way of getting the med packs in phobos base (aka, first level)? 90% of the time I can never get there in time, and the dumb enemies will use them.

Wait, they spawn as items in the base?  I thought they were equipment the zombies spawned with or something.

I usually just hope they don't use 'em or anything before I can kill them.

Also, I am opposed to giftdropping.  It seems like such a blatant AI exploit.  Besides, standing in the doorway and gunning everything down is cooler.

Absolutely AMAZING run this time around!

Chalk up another win, medium difficulty. I'm starting to think ammochain is overpowered.

-- General ---------------------------------------------------

Before him 7 brave souls have ventured into Phobos:
 2 of those were killed.

Some rumours though, say that the Cyberdemon was killed already!
Is he immortal? 5 souls claim to have killed him...
2 killed the bastard and survived.
3 showed that it can outsmart hell itself.

--------------------------------------------------------------

As you can see, I both completed the Mortuary, then got the Railgun!

I know none of you will believe me when I say this, but the Railgun actually spawned MUCH earlier, like at the beginning of hell, but it got destroyed by a barrel JUST as I was about to pick it up. I was pretty angry over that, but then OVERJOYED when it spawned again just before the Phobos Arena! So in other words, the Railgun spawned twice in one game. I was amazed at my luck.

Also, this was the first time I ever overcharged a BFG. Since I got an extra one upon completing the Mortuary, I thought "Hey, why not?" and then overcharged it on the Cyberdemon... and frickin' MISSED! I demolished him with my moddeduptohighheaven spare, and then finished him off with my Railgun, just for fun, but still...

Also, while it says I completed the wall, I accidentally blew up the backpack and advanced rocket launcher while fighting for dear life... I was awestruck at my stupidity.

Nothing else of note except for the fact that the game was surprisingly stingy with the orbs this time around for some reason. Also, I'm pretty sure there wasn't a single Thermie that spawned in the entire run, which is always bothersome, even if I don't get invulnerability to use it. I should go to the forums and suggest for a guaranteed way of getting a thermie, like as a special level prize or something.

You can change the starting location one the phobos base level from the upper left corner to the mid right side. Puts you significantly closer to the door.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

's the equivalent of an init option, th think the file's "doomrl.ini"

EDIT: in the doomrl folder, open "doomrl.ini" find the line "Frontal          = FALSE;" and change false to true, I duno if it has to be capslock'd but it wouldn't hurt. there's quite a few other options in there too, documented with comments.
