I'm pistol-centric on my feats, and I didn't find any good pistols yet... lvl 6...

Also, Should I proceed into the chained court?

Chained Court is a cake walk. Do it just the experience. The berserk packs bring your health back to 100 and there's four of them.

Even if you're playing a challenge game and don't have access to the chainsaw, go in and either shoot like the crazed space marine that you are or just pound them to death and run back for another berserk pack when necessary.

Oh, and save your armor some wear and take it off while you're berserked.

Also, the rooms north and south of the starting point have cacodemons, so unless you're trying to go for a 100% kill game, avoid it. The rewards (24 Shotgun shells and 60 Power cells for each room) aren't worth the damage you'll take from the lava.

HAHA CACODEMONS ARE EASY WITH MY DUAL PISTOLS! HAHAHA

Seriously, I haven't found a chainsaw.  Only a bunch of regular pistols, a chaingun, a double shotgun (I found a couple of combats earlier), a phase device, green armor, and a bunch of combat knives.

Oh. Chainsaw. Right. On the floor. Doh.

Well, that depends.  If you managed to take on the Arena to the later rounds, you'll have a rocket launcher.  Just line yourself up with that little "lava corridor" and fire a rocket down towards the end.  this will blast open both the wall of the room and the wall on the other side, making the total firewalker trip a total of one tile (and the blast won't destroy the ammo).

The cacodemons should be taken care of with relative ease, you can even just wait for them to poke their ugly little heads out if you're patient enough.  Then you can waltx in and nab all the ammo.

And there are enough berserk packs in the Chained Court to give you plenty of chance to heal up afterwards.  Unless I'm specifically limited from it (say, not having explosives.  Either due to not taking the Arena or having an Angel of Marksmanship), I'll normally take the rooms. 


Oh, and so far as I know, the chainsaw only appears in one place...  The Court.  It may be possible to find one in standard play, but only much later on and even then only rarely.

I've never seen the chainsaw outside of the Court either. And I can't make it past level 4 when I play AoB...

Seriously, I can't even get to AoB level 4 on Hurt Me Plenty. And there are people who can do this on NIGHTMARE???

I think the main trick for AoB used to be the "baiting" strategy.  Place a chunk of ammo or something around a corner or a door and wait for some fool to come running for it, allowing you to chop them into bits without exposing yourself to fire.  The well-known Pig Tail Sock tactic.

However, I wonder if that will even work in the new version, what with this talk of baddies ignoring "useless" items...  How they define "useless", I'm not sure.

Note to self: Chainsaw and Chaingun are poor weapon choices against a swarm of Lost Souls.

I never really was good enough to try baiting enemies in older versions, but I tried in this one with random ammo and it didn't work.  I'm guessing that "useless" items are things below the normal level generation...so pistols on d5, combat shotguns on d15, etc.  Probably helps if they are loaded too.

And yeah, for getting the 'feel' of Doom right...all you need to do is grab an invulnerability orb, whip out the chainsaw, and then running up to a pack of Hell Knights and you get that Doom feeling all over again, hardcore.

Your feats are okay, but why carry around a chaingun? Your dual pistols would've been doing more damage and be a LOT more accurate. You'd have been better off with a combat shotgun if you were looking for lost soul crowd control.

The problems were:
Green armor? You're kidding right?
Did you have at least one large medkit?
When using pistols, you're supposed to pick them off one by one. If you were shooting from the bottom of the screen like I think you were, you'd be getting hit by 3-4 shots per round.
