I've fixed the key-repeat issues and, hopefully, any remaining stuck-key issues.

At any rate, it's a lot more paranoid now. As paranoid as it can get, really.

Not sure if this was reported already or not, or which version it's known in--but the latest version, about one time in 3 that I switch tasks, when I alt-tab back I can't use my keyboard.  I CAN use my mouse still, if I was already designating stuff for example.  If I switch to another task though, and THEN click on the DF window, the keyboard works again.

In 40d9 changing from window to fullscreen & vice versa resulted in a mess (with all of the possible settings). Also the FRAME_BUFFER:YES Failed to produce any picture.
No effect on FPS (as I espected because graphics hasn't been the problem for me.)

My stuff:
XP SP2
Athlon 64 3200+ 2.2GHz
Radeon X1600 (XT or GT or something)  driver updated 3rd July 08

Probably fixed with the latest keyboard patch. Hmmm...

A few people still can't run it at all, apparently. I can't help but think that's probably their fault, but if that's the case.. gah. I really don't know. :/

I do know there are more "doesn't work" votes than I've got messages about that, since d9 came out. Speak up, guys.

Whate'er you did to the keyboard input, I finally noticed something-
Quote from: init.txt
This controls the number of milliseconds that must pass before a held key sends a repeat

press to the game.  You might need to adjust this.

[KEY_HOLD_MS:120]
This setting no longer does anything(tested at se'eral settings from 5 to 120 on scrolling, moving designate cursor, and entering AAAAAAAAAAAAA on work order screen)  thanks to your changes. Which is annoying because the current repeat rate is too slow for my taste. The old default is 150ms, if it matters. edit: 40d9.

Intel graphics, Ubuntu 8.10, all the right packages installed (I think).

My computer flashes the first frame, then the window goes black, and I have to use
>kill -kill ###
because standard kill doesn't make it die.

Whose fault? How fixed? Thanks

More commonly known as kill -9.

Whose fault? I'm not really sure; more testing is required.
Dwarf fortress doesn't respond to the standard kill, by design. (Well, it does, but only by switching to the esc-menu.)

Could you try quitting it blindly, eg. start it then press up and enter? Does that work?

Eh. Probably you haven't given your normal user correct access to sound and/or video.. at any rate, you could try turning off sound.

For all those that been directly following the BC code in the repository.  I have pushed in my rewrite of the keyboard routines.  You can grab it and watch armies fly acrossed the screen.

It changes a lot of lower level code around.  The changed code is much more intimately tied to the private parts of DF.  I am hoping for 99% compatibility with those parts, but only confident enough to estimate 90%.

Here is too a better DF.

I hope this is somehow going to work in a way that doesn't need a hack for various kbd layouts.

...I'e heard AZERTY complaints, any dvoraks about?

Oh, and: Mouse position resets to center screen when it's not moved for a few seconds(and therefore disappears from interface), even if a mouse button is being held.
