Well, consider in the real world that great white sharks continue to grow their entire lives, and they basically have no diseases and no natural predators, and they have the entire oceans to keep growing in, but they never get bigger than 25 feet or so.

Dragons would no doubt get considerably larger than that, but they'd probably grow more and more slowly over time, so that you might see them only going up 1 size in a hundred years, after a while.

Holy carp! Would that mean a 1050 year old dragon would be size 1050?

That will be possible to do in the next version AFAIK, since creatures can be bigger or even smaller as they are aging.
So let's say a dragon will be an "adult" when he is at least 1000 years old. You will be able to set SIZE: 1000 / adult age for the dragons in the raws.

when the size of tiles gets less abstract, you could end up with a "The Hobbit" situation.
A big dragon finds a mountainhome to pillage.
He stomps in through main entrance.
He has a tasty meal of barbecue dwarf and hoards the gold.
He becomes a Great Big Lazy dragon, who could squeeze out of that entrance to pillage some more, but can't be bothered.
He certainly can't get through that secret entrance, like that little dorf.
Oh no, dorfs stealing mah hoard!
Raaa, time to squeeze out of the way in and toast some humies.
