The Deadliest Creatures
« on: December 17, 2008, 01:11:47 am »

Yea, everyone had their adventurers killed at least once, by different things. Some say unicorns became batshit berserkers after the last update, some say elephants are the most powerful force to ever walk the land, while everyone is afraid of the dreadful carp.

But what creature do you think is the deadliest? And Why?

I say the deadliest thing that isn't something that came out from the HFS is the Giant Cave Spider (GCS for short).
Carp will drag you to the water and drown/eat you, elephants will make you as flat as a pancake, unicorns will impale you, but the GCS will paralyze you, poison you, strike you with a bunch of legs in rapid sucession and bite your head off.

They seem kinda rare now, though.

Right now, for me, its elf bowmen. I'll be merrily slaughtering elf children, collecting their heads in a bag, and all of the sudden I've got an alder arrow stuck in my spleen. I try to chase the bastard down but can never seem to find him before bleeding to death.

goblin-baby-snatched dwarven elite marksdwarfs.
my adventurer slautered three GCS, only minor wounds (urist mconearm), and was using a GCS leg as a sword to slaughter gobbo's, when a fellow dwarf severd my head with one shot. further attempts only made the snatched marksdwarf more bad a**.

Giant Scorpions. Same thing as the Giant Cave Spider in OP. The thought of an ambush by one of these has caused me to completely avoid deserts or rocky wastelands when traveling.

Cats.

If left unchecked, they can wipe out a fortress from within.

You know, that means Toady has created a game with areas on the world that players are scared of entering and dieing*. This is awesome.
*Unless of course they do the dwarven thing to do: to charge in oblivious to danger, lobbing socks and flies at their foes.

Well, i personnaly have no issues with GCS or Giant Scorpians. all it takes is a single stab to anything semi-important to their ability to well....live (ie. foot, abdomen, head) and some twistes of a spear to keep them distracted, eventually they pass out and die. i have fought quite alot of the buggers. i have killed ettins, hydras, titans, giants, everything. but by far armys of zombie carp and zombie whales scare the s*** out of me the most. oh yeah, if your not using a spear, pike, bow or xbow you DOIN IT WRONG vs anythin big.

Skeleton/Zombie Dragons are even more fun.
