Then again, I consider Infinity to be overly ambitious, something that might easily spell it's downfall.

I don't really know, but there's this Loki game, it's a Diablo-like action-slasher, with you getting to choose one of four mythologies for your character (actually, the character's defining the mythology), but I don't remember whether Norse myths are present there. It ran sorta crappy on my laptop, so I abandoned it.

edit: Found the DVD. Well, it says there's Aztec, Ancient Greece, Scandinavia, and Ancient Egypt. Is "Scandinavian" close enough to being viking-themed?

Indeed it is.

Hammer Of The Gods
Played it. Good game; awesome music. I wish I could find that music.

Yeah, looked it up on the Wiki - it says "Norse mythology" there, I guess "Scandinavian" was the closest russian translators could come to "Norse". :P

Looking closer, the text on the DVD mentions a "savage Viking" as a possible hero, so I guess that could be a hint. :)

Loki: Heroes of Mythology? Hmmm... I can suffer through inferior mythologies to get to the Norse parts. All right, I'm on the hunt for a demo.

Just be prepared to download all possible patches for it, I remember it being a tad on the buggy side.

It's a neat little game, actually I think that it's the predecessor of the HoMM serie.

What was the name of a game where you had inderect control over a tribe... Raiding nearby tribes... Performing "god quests" via priests... Where cows were the main resource...

You were making different choices via "dialogues" which shaped your tribe. You were allocating "mana" in different "spheres" each year (harvest, cows, hunt, scouting etc.) and had a chance to unite clans.
Can you make me to remember this game? It was not viking but quite... themed.

That? It's uh...

Wait...

It's KoDP, King of Dragon Pass
Thank you, it is!

It's a neat little game, actually I think that it's the predecessor of the HoMM serie.

New World Computing made several games along those lines - both Hammer of the Gods and the HoMM series derive from the original: King's Bounty.

I hear they're making an updated version (or have made, I haven't been keeping up with the gaming industry much recently). You can find King's Bounty on the underdog's or abandonia, I think - it's worth a try. You'll immediately see the resemblance to HoMM, down to groups of monsters being described as "a horde of ghouls" "a few unicorns" "several wolves", etc. But the plot is kind of interesting if I recall correctly. Something about finding magical treasures to heal the ailing King, I think. Very Arthurian legend/fisher king/Mabinogion.

King's Bounty 2 is not viking themed... But it's a nice rpg single player game I must admit with elements from HoMM and Etherlords.
