Recent developments: Countdown?

Just wondering, but, what's the countdown all about on the Recent Developments page?

1011 is the latest... I think it's a countdown, at least. What's it for?

Sorry if it's a really OBVIOUS-KICK-THIS-DOUCHE-IN-THE-FACE question. :)

I'm pretty sure it's Toady's "stuff to finish" list.

When it reaches 0, the new version will be released. Right?

I believe right now it's "the count down of stuff he wants to fix and/or add" and then after that reaches 0 it goes into "the count down of bugs that need to be fixed before release", though I might be mistaken.

That's how it worked last time (3D version), so it probably will this time too.

He's had a countdown since then; it was the one leading up to v39, I think.

I remember a previous countdown. When it was reaching one decimal (I think), then we had a thread with a link to a youtube film of Europe's "The Final Countdown".

The "final countdown" definition will be valid when Toady will work on the final version in the Dev. 1 cycle.  ;)
