It would be cool if miasma could cause nausea.

Then it could actually be a useful breath weapon.

Trolls that exude nausea-causing miasma would rock.  Close combat melee would be a cloud of miasma, vomit, and blood from torn-apart vomiting dwarves.  :D

I haven't seen trolls in the sieges nowadays...it's a shame. Hopefully the Army Arc will fix this...in fact we should be able to define that what creatures should appear in the armies of the various races. So for example, we define in the raws that the goblins can use trolls, ettins, whatever in their armies. I've talked with Toady about this a long time ago, this will be possible to do sometime in the future.  8)

Trolls only occur in chasms/caves in evil areas.

I'm guessing Toady doesn't think of them in the D&D way.

Hmm...
Is it possible to have a creature breathe miasma?
As in survive in miasma and not air? I would think it would sufficate pretty easy when miasmas gone. You could have NOBREATH or whatever the tag was and they don't have to breath.
I think it was about something like breath weapon. So that troll will inhale air and exhale miasma

That's exactly what I mean.
I've been juggling the idea around for a while if it's possible.

Trolls have come in 4 of my last 5 sieges, about 10 of them in each one. Perhaps because it was a world created in an fairly old version?

If the biome tags on the trolls were altered to include more common areas would they be more likely to show up with sieges?

I've always wondered that.  If no one else tests it, I'll give it a try at the end of my turn in a succession game.

I have not seen trolls in the latest version.  My fortress is ten years old and has survived two dragon attacks, approximately eight sieges, and HFS of the harder variety.  The largest and latest siege was 72 goblins, no beak dogs.

I don't think so, since they are hardcoded at the moment. [..and beak dogs also]

Hmm one of my favorite forts (still haven't finished with it but I'm working on something else) the gobs all come on beak dogs. In my current fort the first siege (not to long ago) by amazons (mod pack) had the leader on a unicorn.

Heh, this would also make it possible to have a proper Bile Demon if someone were to make a Dungeon Keeper mod, as one of their primary attacks was to fart which would create a cloud of noxious gas in the vicinity.

There are three things I know about dwarves:
1. They've got beards. Even the women.
2. They're short. Especially the women.
3. They're Scottish.

More breath weapons would be interesting; barring that, a template for a creature bow-type attack.

"creature bow-type attack"? I take it that's meant to represent a creature spitting or something?

What?  Biomes are not hardcoded!  If you edit trolls to make them show up everywhere, you should be knee-deep in troll-goblin sieges.  Hypothetically.
