Knowing Belgium, everyone will vote for themselves out of mistrust for anyone else, and some kind of weird direct democracy coalition will need to be formed from 11 million or so individuals.

Engineers = actors with diggers for mining gold, maybe concrete sprayers for patching holes in your base or making cover if you're assaulting (your results may vary)

such a shame this does not have proper multi player.
's what I said. this would be a right blast on network multiplayer with a friend or three.

Even the hotseat multiplayer is a bit poor with the interfaces not really being designed for controllers.

Weirdly the interface seems to be designed for neither controller nor mouse+keyboard.
The game is full of pie menus, easy with a controller.
The controller has no switch weapons button!
Aiming is almost impossible with a mouse, but easy with a controller.
Doing anything outside of the main game (the menu, campaign screen, base design) is a chore with a controller.
Also the mouse moves weird, like it's being translated to controller input.

But imagine this game with 10 players on a huge map. it would have been glorious!

I beg to differ. I find it exceptionally hard to aim with a controller, and very easy with a mouse. Of course, this may be the fact that I don't have an Xbox controller, but my point still remains.

I also play Cortex Command with a joystick, and it works pretty well.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

I play the game just fine with mouse/keyboard. Not sure why you're having trouble really.

Yeah, I can play equally as enjoyably with my trackpad as with my haxbox controller.

With a controller you just point the stick in the direction you want to shoot. Any controller with analogue stick will do.
with a mouse both up/down movement and side to side movement is being translated as circular. example:
If I aim dead right and move the mouse right, it aims down. if i move the mouse left Aims up.
If I aim up and move up, it goes right, and so on... infuriating!
Instead it should just aim at an invisible pointer.

Sounds like you have some problem with the way your mouse is working then? For me, when I move the mouse right it aims right, up/down adjust the aim up and down as expected.

Then try moving the mouse right while already aiming right, that's where the problem is

It... works fine for me. As I said. Moving it right while already aiming right just makes it aim further to the right. Up and down adjust the angle up and down, as expected. Maybe it helps that I have been playing this game since alpha, but I've never had any problem hitting things using the mouse.

I think the root of the problem is that we can't see where the focus is while moving. I had the same issue.

That is kind of annoying, yeah.
