Which file do I muck about with to mod dwarves?
« on: December 14, 2008, 11:21:15 am »

Also where is it?
I need to know because I'm modding DF to be kiddie-friendly.
This means renaming all the booze to "whatever-juice/syrup/extract" and making dwarves non-alchohol dependant. And probably less gore. And friendly carp.

Well, the dwarf creature is in 'standard.txt' and The plants are in matgloss_plant.txt I believe, but Legendary Lands has modded the file names for me so this is using my memory.

The dwarf file is in creature_standard.

To change the names of the boozes, look in matgloss_plant.

Making less gore will be much harder. You could give every single creature in the game [NOBLEED], I guess, but that won't stop the nastier creatures from tearing chunks off of your dwarves.

And there's not much you can do about the carp. They're actually not carnivorous; any action they take against your dwarves is purely in self-defense.

These are in the raw/objects folder, by the way. For more information, the wiki has a useful compendium of all things modding.

The World Without Knifebear — A much safer world indeed.
regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

The fluffy bunnies and adorable babies will be saved.

If you remove the bite attack from fish (string with [ATTACK:MAIN:***] and make [ATTACK:SECONDARY:***] into MAIN), they won't tear your dwarves apart, just slap them with tails. I had a mod where all fish was unable to bite and only piranhas were able, but it became too boring.

P.S. Especially for you: http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=28598.0
