Haha, I just noticed the thread and somehow I started humming "House of the Rising Sun" to myself...

Oh god, I'm sleep-deprived right now.

Hm. I can play. What is this game?

It's a turn based strategy game, centered around infrastructure building, army building, and conquering planets.  It has a fairly robust diplomacy model (especially for it's day), which makes playing with humans into essentially a game of Diplomacy with resource management.

The setting is a cheap knockoff of Warhammer 40000, with a galactic Imperium and a Space Pope and an Inquisition that hates technology and blah blah blah.  Where this is important is that it's the task of the five players to each try to get themselves elected Regent (temporary Emperor) long enough to then declare themselves Emperor and fight off all comers.  The rub there is that there are three Imperial Offices that have to be player controlled, and the Regent can only appoint himself to one of them.  So out of four opponents all trying to win your crown you have to have at least two friends you can trust with a bunch of free warmaking power.

Good question.  A Google search turned up a bunch of pay-to-download greyware sites.  I don't actually remember where I found my copy - probably Home of the Underdogs - but it's surely gone now.

I can rapidshare it if you like.

Rapidshare pl0x?

Delivered.

Then, grab the 1.4 Patch, and install the Nova mod that we're using.  It's a pretty simple process.

However, you might get bombarded with messages asking you for a CD or to put your computer in 256 color depth.  Ignore those and just tell it to proceed as many times as you need to.  There's a way to fix that, but I haven't bothered.

Maybe.  Depends on if woose1 comes through on joining up.

And of course, if he flakes out, you can take over the apparently cursed lordship of House Decados.

Hi.
Still looking for another player for this?
I know the game, although I never did PBM.

And suddenly we're awash in players.  W00t!

Maybe we should start a parallel game so that the new players can participate.  Anyone up for that?

Personally I'd love to play a full-5-players game. Especially with players who know it. And as much as like woose1's enthusiasm, I'm disinclined to let him join, as he is totally green, apparently.
I think, that we could start a new, 5-player game, and freeze the current one until we get some reasonably experienced person to take over the Decados.

Keiseth, Mlittle, do you guys know this game well?

This game sounds a lot like the old MPS game "Machiavelli the Prince".  Complete with appointing other players to important positions and getting hit by inquisitions.  Although I'm betting in Emperor of the Fading Suns, you can't -assassinate- the Space Pope...

You're more right than you know.  The same company made this and Machiavelli.  Lot of crossover, right down to the interface.

I'm not so hot on abandoning this game just yet.  As I recall Pnx wasn't experience with the game either right?  It's not a terribly difficult game to learn.  Besides, I'm already in my second turn as Regent - let's blow this one out before starting another game.
