(damn, we need Aqizzar to do his turn quickly, or else we'll end up exchanging another twenty posts of diplomatic insults)

It is clear who is the source of evil in this conflict. Li Halan's laughable defense can fool no one. From now on, the Noble House al-Malik shall treat every Li Halan's vessel, be it oil tanker or schoolbus, as a combat vehicle and will proceed to destroy them on sight.

Huh?  I did my turn and e-mailed it to both addresses you gave me a couple days ago.  If the turn has moved on since then and come back to me, then I don't have the save yet to play it.

EDIT: Nevermind.  I forgot Boksi was Decados.  Just did the turn and e-mailed it.

Turn 3 has started.  We are faster then those chumps in alpha centari.

The cowardly dogs of Malak show their true colors by hiding beneath the patriarchs robes.  They would sell themselves into slavery rather then live like men, taking responsibility for their actions.

(Seriously.  Holy writ on turn 2?  Kinda over reacting there.)

[out of roleplay]So the Church did accept to my terms? Now, thats something new. I've never managed to get anything useful from them before.
Is there some downside of having it signed? Like inability to declare war or research proscribed techs?

The Church will agree to almost anything if you sign the Holy Writ.  Why, you ask?  Because signing the Writ means you just promised to give the Pope the Imperial crown if you manage to be crowned emperor.  In game terms, it means that if you win, your final score is reduced by 30%.  Also, you can only do it once.  It's all there in the manual.

While it breaks the game decorum, I have to ask.  We agreed to vote for ourselves in the first regent election, so that no one wins.  The only things the Church has to offer is votes, excommunication, and proscription.  What did you promise to sign the Writ in exchange for?

No worries, I stick to the rules=no voting. If they accepted, then it means that Li Halan is getting excomunicated. There'll be an apropriate message in your turn, I guess.
And I asked, because I never singed it in singleplayer.
So, while it reduces my score in the (inevitable)event of my triumph, and makes me a pope's butler, I can still declare war on the Church? That's somewhat weird.
I sure wonder how the Li Halan's economy is going to fare now?

edit: I've put a sort of importan in-game events list in the opening post. Notify me if I forget to mention something.

This early on, it's a hickup.  My cities loyalty takes a hit for 10 turns, lowering my production by 25%.  Thing is, it's so early in the game that 25% of what I have is... not much.  Plus I can cancel my taxes to raise my production up another 9% since I have enough excess mineral wealth to get by.  My economy is slowed by about oh... as much as if you'd killed an engineer.

Time will tell if this hiccup wasn't deadly. After all, every little bit counts.

Hmpf. Overreactionaries, both of you. I'm going to send a freighter to my homeworld carrying some power armor. Naturally, the shortest route goes through Criticorum.

Phh, if I wanted to play it safe, I'd choose the Hazats.
Now the big question: Is Aqizzar still awake?

That would be no.  Just sent the turn.

Also, there appears to be a character limit on in-game communications.

turn 3 complete. save sent to mainiac.

is there no announcement when the church excomunicates somebody? did it really work?

Aqizzar:I've read something about buggy in game comunications on the Nova homepage, so it might be good idea to use forum's PM instead. At least for longer messages.

a question: have you guys all just settled for the generic in-game names? 'cause I've got, for example, Li Halan represented by Chi Kao, while he referred to himself as 'Lord Wayne' in one of the posts.
