A couple minor food-related things that would be nice that I don't want to forget to suggest later.
Fire-and-forget mills. Intead of producing milling jobs, powered mills should just require somebody to bring feedstock. The flour or whatever is slowly produced without taking anybody's time, except for switching out bags when they get full. To prevent toxic dye from mixing into your food or other undesirable mixing, you can only mill one kind of thing at a time.
Hitting [q] on a mill brings up two options, one to start/stop milling, and one to choose what's being milled.
Filling flour. 1 unit of powder should count for 5 food when cooked, while other ways of processing plants into food should produce less.
Mixed foods. Have an option for "always mix foods if possible" or make "mix foods" do that automatically.
Grog and mixed drinks. Concentrating liquor into something more potent lets you store more liquor in a barrel, but it's intolerably strong even for a dwarf, so it gets combined with water taken from a well. Economizes on barrels a bit while making wells more useful.
Container quality vs capacity. Higher-quality containers (bins, bags, barrels) should be able to hold more than base quality containers, although the limit would have to be more strongly enforced on low-quality containers for this to be really useful. No more dwarven wine barrel [25].
