Quick question, im trying to upload the map to the DF map archive, but the file that the map compressor creates is to big, its allways 374kb which is to big for the DFMA site. I tried multiple color match sensitivety settings, 4, 8, 32, 256 but that doesnt seem to help, the filesize is allways 374kb Also i cut out most unneccisary sky levels.

So how do i get it to fit?

Captain Duck, thanks for these tutorials.
This is really the perfect way to learn how to play DF.
I just finished 14, and everything is very clear.

Thanks from a happy Dutch fellow.

P.S.: I did drive my girlfriend crazy because I keep listening to your tutorials. She looks at me angrily when she hears your voice.  ;D

Hey Duck how do you actually set up an area for farming spider silk like you show in your 2d tour? If you covered it in a previous video, sorry i must have missed it lol

Its in part 23 if i remember right. Basicly theres nothing to it, just dig out an big area. The trick is that the area needs to be next to a underground river or lake, since cave spiders spawn near underground rivers/lakes.

So you just let cave spider vermin run around the big area dropping webs? What do you do about random hostiles that pop up out of the water?

You dont need a direct connection to the water, tunneling out a tile just near the underground river will have cave spiders spawning there, so you dont have to have any worries about enemies getting in the fort.

Man, i wish the site finder had an option to look for sand, and trees. Im trying to find a good site with lots of stuff for the tutorial, and its a lot of damn work trying to do this by hand.
Kinda late but if you really want a particular site but the first option the site finder gives you stinks you can just embark on it anyway then abandon. After that the site finder will give you another candidate since the first one will only be valid for reclaiming.

Thats really very late since the tutorial is over, but its sound advice for other players i guess.

I am a bit surprised you are so willing to do this compared that you may have to revise your videos possibly not that far into the future.

I better go watch these.

Also as a question: What will you do if a video becomes outdated and thus incorrect and you create a correct one?

I know you probably answered this already... but over 6 pages of reading is my limit.

Looking at your Tutorials, is there one that deals with dirrectly with how to contain Tantrums? Though I guess that would be in basic fortress design. Ill just have to keep looking.

These videos arent getting updated. The series is done. If something major changes thats to bad.

Also i cover moods in one of the videos near the beginning.

More "When" then "If".

So It will be interesting to see if anyone will step up to the plate further down the line (1-3 years later) or if people will feel so overshadowed that they won't even bother. Ohh the Drama :D

Don't let what I am saying belittle your accomplishment. Dwarf Fortress badly needed a video tutorial since forever.
