your tutorial could have been shorter if you stuck to the point more, you tend to ramble a bit, still, great work
I should probably clarify on that:
its like a presentation. If you dont prepare, you tend to hop from one item to another. Also, when you get to something, you'll want to explain everything about it (in general, not just "you")
lets follow a script:
world creation:
main screen, => start new world
world creation screen => explanation of all parameters and ideal settings for beginners
looking at world generation => cut it off when it starts to generate history with something like "we dont want to wait for that", go back and start playing in a world you made earlier, so you know where certain places are
world view => world, region, local explained
world icons explained
region icons explained
moving about in the map
local icons explained, enlarge/minimize area,
local things (aquafier, clay, soil, metals, etc)
find option explained
Embark! => short explanation for big/small area benefits
starter pack or make it yourself?
make it yourself (prepare) explained - controls (dont forget the name change. I once was the flowerlove of rabbit or something)
view dwarfs, point out strengths, weakness, social antisocial, creative etc
give nicknames?
explain a bit (not too much yet!) about the skills
allocate points
item selection (been there once already when explaining the controls)
vital, non-vital, optional?
look at vital items
look at optional items
animals: vital etc
(btw, imo, 1 cat and some dogs, plus chicken or turkey and some sheep is good. sheep give yarn, milk, etc, but dont eat as much as larger grazers.)
It sure looks like a lot, but you can cram it into quite a short time
and do NOT repeat things. thats th beauty of this, they can just go back to watch something you said before
i used to be very good at presentations
