Ratmen Civilizations in Legends
« on: December 11, 2008, 05:07:26 am »

Are there supposed to be Ratmen in the Legends screen? I didn't see any of their fortresses in the world map, but in the Legends section I found several Ratmen groups and civs.

I am not running any mods.

That's... odd.

Must've figured out how to dig, and carved an epic fortress around a bottomless pit.

It is odd indeed, I've never seen ratman civs in my games. Are you sure that your game is unmodded?

The only thing I've changed is making all caves visible and increasing the amount of volcanoes when a new world is made. I checked the entity and creature files, I don't see anything that would make a group of ratmen build a fortress.

The "merchant nobility" makes me think it's based off the human archtype. Maybe someone switched the creature entry?

I don't think so. That should be a goblin civ even if the whole population would be 100% ratmen.
This looks like a bug to me. Perhaps you should upload the saved game.

I can't wait until Toady gives DF the ability to improve its own code.

I've done more snooping around, but to no avail. The only appearance the Ratmen seem to have made is in the Legends screen. I might have forgotten to uninstall some ancient mod from awhile ago, but nothing that i've used would have made a civilization of Ratmen.

UPDATE:
I reinstalled the game and tried running the world again, it says FATAL ERROR: MISSING ENTITIY DEFINITION so it's not normal that's for sure. I checked the entity file in the ratman version of the game, and nothing is different there EXCEPT for a civilzation of Snakemen I modded in myself.

Ok, I think I might have "accidentally" modded in a race of Ratmen. I'm not sure how it exactly happened, as I see no Ratmen civ files. My race of Snakemen, could it be them in disguise?! Also no point in posting the save, since I just found it's modded. Sorry guys. If you want, I can upload my entity and creature files.

Human civilization cancels existence; interrupted by DF.

That said, I want it. Save, seed, the whole shebang. Mail me your computer if necessary. It must be mine!
