Escape to Ziggurat!
I guess it would be difficult to even get to the entrance alive  ::)
But seriously.
The options I see:
(1) using one of the scrolls of teleport in hope of being delivered to a safe place and
(2) trying to roast it with my lightning magic, though again, this thing proved a bit resistant to my lightning bolt, and it moves suprisingly fast.

I'd give what advice I can, but I can't interpret tiles at all (I only play with ASCII). I assume you've got no blink scrolls? And is that a caustic shrike to the left of you?
Yes this is a caustic shrike and yes I got none of blink scrolls, but I'm able to cast Blink myself, not knowing where I will be teleported next time though.

It's going to get me!

What do I do? It seems that this creature is too much tough for my spells, but I'm unsure about how to escape this thing, let alone with destroying it.

Can you outrun it if you quaff berserk?

Don't rely on the Blink spell.

Without knowing your full abilities and inventory I can't really help, but I will say this - think carefully before you act. Take a day if you have to. More than half of deaths, you're likely to look at it afterward and say 'Shit, I could have done X and most likely survived'.

Okay here's what my spriggan has got on him:

Okay great thanks to you all. I had to use a scroll of fear and then the one of teleport and I guess I am relatively safe now. Though that thing is still there, and I believe there's no way I could pass by it unnoticed right to the staircase leading to the upper level, so I think I'll try to delve deeper in the Depths, maybe I will succeed...

I got banished to the Abyss (Louise zapped me the instant she stepped into view) and took a while to get out. As a result, I ended up with a bit of temporary stat damage... (originally I had 5 Int)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

It's almost as bad as the ten levels of drain I ended up with earlier this game. :P

I remember doing the entire Orchish Mines[Back when they were four levels] brainless after a high priest's Neqoxec whaled on me for far too long. Int drain is easily the most common kind of drain, which is... rather hazardous for your average dumb whack-a-bull.

I think the rule of thumb is always go up to 8 int so that no single attack can make you brainless.

So there's a Depths layout that's shaped like a donut. A scroll of mapping tells me that there is something in the middle, but it's ringed by green crystal. What's in the middle and is it worth learning LRD/Shatter to get there? Does random teleporting work?

You should be able to find the answer here: [crawl_directory]\dat\des\branches\  in depths.des or depths_encompass.des. Open with notepad

And I died in a ziggurat on floor 14. I was only going to go to 15, too. At least I've learned my lesson (and that iron giants are really really dangerous).
