Is there a point in my melee fighters worshipping Nemelex anymore? I am planning a new character and I hear the "EVERYTHING MUST GO!" style of sacrifice is gone and replaced with piety through exploration.

I used to use god powers and tens of legendary decks to avoid learning spells as my fighters, and it sounds as though that might not be viable anymore.

Nemelex is really really bad now. He does absolutely nothing for you besides gift you a deck every couple floors or so, pretty much. Which is bad because it fills up your inventory really fast with unreliable... anything. They just cut wonder decks and decks of change so decks are pretty much universally worse than a well equipped arsenal of wand. If you want to play an evoker, just go Pakellas and have a god who's genuinely useful.

What the...

Does anyone know their reasoning for the nerf? Nemelex was moderately powerful at best.

I once heard that Spriggan's of nemlex were Op. Maybe that's why? Honestly I don't know.

What I have read though is that for several years now, the crawl team regretted ever including him in the game in the first place. They think he's badly designed. They considered removing him several times but every single time, the main argument against it was basically "some people like him".

With Pakellas and the nerf, maybe they are finally going to remove him?

The devs hate Nemelex, decks suck as an item, a god centered around an entirely consumable item with no way to renew it is inherently flawed.

Nemlex can renew decks. Otherwise yeah, decks are quite bad.

He makes deck a renewable resource, sort of. He gives you decks as a god gift, which would be great except his piety is tied to exploration so it's really just like a higher drop rate. And the big thing is, you can get a "good" deck like a legendary war or something, but at some point it'll be empty and there's nothing you can do to stop that or refill it.

+12 Long Sword (slice, Dex + 6) or Wyrmbane? I have 14 LS skill already and no Polearms skill, and this is still pre-Lair.

wiki suggests that wyrmbake is preeeeeety desireable. since you are pre-lair, getting the ranks in polearms shouldn't be an issue. You probably aren't even meeting dragons yet, so getting the enchantment maxed will be good too. maybe switch to training polearms but wield the sword until the skill comes up a little.

Heeey guys I need your help:

three hp, poisoned, and facing three enemies? You needed our help long before this moment. Well, someone's help, not necessarily mine.

Pray to RNGesus.

Maybe use the scroll of summoning and hope your summons appear between you and the monsters. otherwise, maybe a scroll of fog, but they are still going to shoot at you. Bck up along that wall toward those stairs on the left. I think the enemies will mostly have to move forward to follow you rather than attacking, except maybe the dragon. idk.

You have to drink the potion of ambrosia or you'll unavoidably die from poison.  Unfortunately the confusion from that will likely get you killed anyway, so.  Enjoy your death.  The only way you're getting out of that is if RNGesus decides to marry you.

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

No, he can still activate Shadow Form[Which grants poison immunity]. That plus summoning MIGHT get him to safety if things go perfectly.

How to die in 105 turns:

1. Pick a branded weapon
2. Wield weapon
3. Unwield weapon
4. Die of distortion damage.

Why unwield distortion though?
