And god damn, does it appear I missed a ton of stuff. Despite the, honestly, indecent equipment I got, most of it quite early in the game, this was one of the most difficult wins I've had. I suspect it's mostly due to skipping spells entirely, but I've 15-runed a NaGl with a mace and shield and no spells, and it was heaven in comparison to this guy.
Assorted thoughts to follow:
1. The Alchemist's Hat is insane - {rElec rPois rF+ rC+ rN+ MR+ rMut rCorr}. I bought it from a Gozag Shop Vault for like 5k, and didn't regret a single coin of it
2. There are a lot of new enemies, especially in Tomb. This is a good thing - however the devs might want to throw one or two new enemies at mid-game, since it remains somewhat meh.
3. Extended's difficulty seems to have been buffed again:
- I nearly died (sub-20 HP) three times to Mnoleg of all things. I guess removing his tentacles for new branded melee attacks was not, in fact, a nerf, since I had to use almost all my consumables to not die
- I got a Holy Pan level with TSO, starting in view of 3 Daevas which basically wrecked my shit. I used up all my consumables here, barely survived until the teleport kicked in and scurried away like a disgraced rat
- I got Smited and Hellfired a lot. I mean A LOT. Not sure if it's objective or confirmation bias, but things were using their abilities a lot more. Reading through the change notes they do say a rework on monster spellcasting and ability use went in, but I haven't searched around to see what exactly this entails.
- A LOT OF GOD DAMN HELLFIRE.
- Shard Shrikes can go shrike themselves.
This reminds me I have a hybrid Naga caster of some sort sitting at 11 runes in one of the fifty trunk folders on my desktop. I might finish it soon.
