Thanks, didn't thought that Deep Elf would make it to the end, that was actually the 1st time i reach Zot with a Deep Elf, usually i lose them during or after Lair (so squishy)

It really is! It was kinda dicey not having any resistances on my armor, but then I got that amulet with rF++ and enough cure mutation to not be too concerned about not wearing the amulet.

What kind of throwing skill am I going to need to hit with large rocks reliably? I got throwing up to ten and, out of my 20 or so throws, I must have missed a good 10 of them. Not being able to hit any of the orcs or wargs on D:9 ended up killing me. I dont remember throwing being this ridiculously inaccurate.

I never used Throwing so i can't really comment on how accuracte things goes when the skill grow, but as usually when throwing large rocks you probably would use a character with high strength, it could mean neglected dexterity.
And isn't dexterity counting in the accuracy of melee/ranged attacks ?

I rolled a Minotaur Fighter for a completed change from my deep elf success.
I lost a couple of them early to stupid things, but this one is starting to get powerful , i decided to go with Ashenzari, mostly because i never played with it.
I cursed my armor only when i found a plate one an orc left behind, then i found some nice items that are making the guy clearing Lair rather easily (in comparison to my deep elf that had a lot more problems)

How painful was worshipping TSO right from the start?

Not too bad; the last couple versions it feels easier to build piety with him early in the dungeon since there's more imps and things to go along with the odd undead level. The big thing is that he gives you no panic buttons for basically the first four pips of piety, and when he does give you the ability to summon angels it's really expensive; he's not like Trog where some combination of Brothers in Arms and Berserk can resolve most situations. It really pays to invest early in Evocations or a ranged weapon to soften up tough early monsters like Ogres and Hydras. That said, the passive accuracy buff for targets in your halo makes a noticeable difference in how quickly you can kill things, so it's not like you get nothing from him early on. Once that halo gets big enough for you to hit things with ranged attacks, you can really cripple enemies before they get to smacking distance, which for me typically happens after Lair. Conveniently, after Lair is about when you start finding Great Maces on Hill Giants and Ettins and the like, and a highly enchanted great mace of holy wrath coupled with a good crossbow (or wands) will carry you wherever you want to go.

This game is ridiculous. I've gotten a ton of awesome gear, but I've also run into large amounts of out-of-depth monsters. The minotaur had an artifact greatsword, which nearly killed me, but I managed to kill it.

Edit: The great mace was a +9 electric great mace. The chainmail was +8 chainmail with +Blink.

Edit II: Why hello there, +8 electric hand crossbow. Also, I swear, every single artifact I find as a gargoyle seems to have rPois.

Edit III: And now an EV/Str ring.

What i learned of that character :

- it confirmed that finding good items early makes a -huge- difference in survivability (lost many minotaur fighter, never had a single one feel that strong for the whole game)
- Ashenzari boost to skills is awesome, making skills higher means you're much stronger than usual at a given level
- finding really strong items can make you just unstoppable (i couldn't believe how my minotaur cleared the last Vault level without any need to retreat upstair, without even mentionning how he destroyed Mara)
