It's true i found few curing and healing potions, but i didn't thought it was intended, i was blaming my bad luck after a too good start.
Currently trying to clear the Spider Nest, i like my poison cloud, especially hunger free thanks to the staff of energy, spiders die fast to a few of them.
And i have sticky flame now high enough powered, that is really helpful when i get in melee range.

They did tone down consumable generation, particularly of Curing and Heal Wounds potions.  I think it's quite noticeable during the crucial early game period (where there wasn't previously much item destruction anyway).

Yeah, I've literally only seen 3 potions of heal wounds the entire game - and I've got 2 runes and cleared everything down to Depths 4.

Edit: got lots of teleport scrolls though.

I forgot how Spider Nest was, 4 levels that are boringly very repetitive with pesky spiders again and again, and finally the only interesting level , the 5th one with the rune.

The most notable event on my way toward the rune vault was killing 1 emperor scorpion, fortunately alone as one is enough to make short work of your characters, he gave me more challenge than i wanted.

Then battling the vault entrance (more spiders and more spiders), i had another emperor scorpion coming. To my surprise the damage roll of my battlesphere+mystic blast were high enough to destroy it without much problems.
Funny how sometime i need a lots of those to kill some insignificant monster due to the damage roll being low.

Then when moving toward the inner part of the vault, i spotted a nasty ghost moth.
I ran away to a better location (as i know from previous games that there are some emperor scorpions inside the vault)
The thing came after me but again very lucky for me my battlesphere + high powered mystic blast got good damage rolls and managed to destroy that damned thing because it could destroy my mana entirely.

And finally i got my sight on the rune, and another of those emperor scorpions

As i noticed the deep waters, i decided to try a mephitic cloud, with some luck the thing would drown itself. But i noticed to my disapointement that not only it didn't cared about the cloud, but those annoying monster can move through deep water without any trouble or even slowing.

And worse it attracted a 2nd one that was going after me too.
I ran along the vault and at some point as the scorpions weren't letting me go, i decided to spend time and mana in using Shadow Creatures, with some luck i would have some emperor scorpions for myself.
Unfortunately i wasn't so lucky , but still my summons distracted the monsters long enough for me to get far away

I went right back to the stairs, went up so i could get some breath, rest and go at it again.
I went down back for round 2 and saw an emperor scorpion rather close, summoned some more helpers , as i had time (it was on the other side of the screen) and started to bombard it with mystic blast

victory was mine, but there was the problem with the 2nd one, i went back to the vault, and finally got it right there
Summoned a bunch of friends that managed to distract it so it wouldn't attack me while i was sticky flame the thing to death.

good work my spider friends
After resting from that panic time, i went to the rune only to see another ghost moth

I summoned some shadow creatures again, just before my mana reached 0
Unfortunately for the ghost moth, i still had a bunch of wands (and 10 in evocation) , took my lightning wand and shot that thing down .

Now that the last monster of that vault was down, the rune was mine !

Reached level 17 in there.
I hope i'll find a book with Ignite Poison, would go along my nice poison clouds, unfortunate that Vehumet ceased to gift me single spells.

Hehehe, it'd be terribly appropriate if you'd get access to Ignite Pois immediately after clearing out Spider...  Crawl irony at its finest.

Ugh. I just got sent into the Abyss by a random orc.

On Dungeon:4.

This isn't going to go well.

One thing to note, Robsoie :
In Spider, there are very few enemies that are poison resistant, but they're the most powerful : the emperor scorpions.
It means that ignite poison, that will directly damage the other mobs because of they poisonous chunks will only deal damage to them if they're standing over a poison effect, and that most of your poison spells will do nothing to them.

Also, Mephitic Cloud is very noisy (same as a fireball, easily heard from more than a LoS away), so it will grab the attention of a full rune vault. In one such as this one, were monsters don't shout to make the others come, you may want not to use it at its entrance :)

Nah, Ignite Poison affects non-rPois critters as well.  During some testing I wound up casting IP in range of an adder (clean chunks, no rPois, poison attack) and burned the bastard from the inside out.  I don't remember if I did it with kobolds though, who have poisonous chunks but no rPois or poisonous innate attack...

This was last version though, so unless they changed the way Ignite works in 0.15, then it should work just fine against clean beasts.

Also, I don't know about emperor scorpions, but last I checked regular early-dungeon scorpions left poisonous chunks, despite being weak to poison.

Heh...  It'd be kinda funny if you wound up cooking poisonous chunks by casting Ignite Poison near them.  A fine kobold roast!

Ignite poison works against anything that leaves poisonous chunk, regardless of rPois.
In Spider, it means everybody except Emperor Scorpions and invisible enemies :)

Well since the tournamend is ongoing:
Any way to make webtiles run faster and be more reponsive? Are the differences depending on what webbrowser you're using?

Performance depends mainly on your ping to the server.
You may want to choose a server that's close to where you live (same continent), and where there isn't already 40 players in ongoing games (as it will slow down the server).

I personally Play on CSZO even if it's in the US and I'm in France, because it has much less players on it when I can play (because CLAN, the European server, has many players at those hours).

EDIT: server list with location : http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/howto

Did a short test with SCZO and it doesn't seem to have the main problem of lantea, which is actions not displaying until I hit another button.
I'll do some further testing to see if it's just coincidence.
Thank you.

In the past version in which i used Ignite Poison, it was turning my clouds of poison into clouds of fire, it was awesome.

Now you guys mean that it will only affect monsters that are poisonned ?

Ignite poison works against anything that leaves poisonous chunk, regardless of rPois.
In Spider, it means everybody except Emperor Scorpions and invisible enemies :)

And also adders, which leave clean chunks.  So unless they're the one special case, or it's been changed since 0.14, I'm guessing there's another criterion that determines whether or not they get targeted.

No, no, I was talking about direct damage, meph & poison cloud still get transformed in fire clouds :)

And yeah, Kagus, monsters that leave clean chunks but have chances to poison you also get damaged.
