Hey, it's chaos !

So I tried a Minotaur Monk of Xom, and was going to take Yiuf's staff ... except my dungeon didn't generate him ... :/
and his staff usually is enchanted !

And now, I just met Fannar. And I saved. I don't want to fight him. He's a fellow Staffer !

[EDIT] He had a wand of draining. And he used it. several times. :'(

How humiliating. I starved to death while my deep elf conjurer awkwardly tried to hit a bat with a melee weapon he had no skill with.

Sometimes I feel sad because I don't ever want to play fighters for some reason, and yet I rarely (if ever) see a a caster that has won the game in logs. Hell, I'm lucky if I get to D:10 in my games. I've been playing this game for over a year damn it, it should be get easier at some point right?

I would say both are viable, but casters probably require a bit more experience to get working. For extended I would say hybrid (or TSO melee) is probably the only way to go.

I think it's funny how my best character started off as a human fighter and ended up worshiping Vehemut.

Please note that most successful characters are "hybrids".

Err .... They removed Crazy Yiuf from the 0.13 (the beta) version, right ? :(
His entry in the wiki states that he is in the latest stable version, but doesn't mention the 0.13 one, and the other "uniques" articles doesn't mention any of those ... :/
Why, people, WHY ?

I can't find anything to suggest he's being removed.  He has an official subforum named after him so I doubt they would either.

Then I'm just unlucky ...

played nearly 10 times between yesterday and today, at least until D5 each time (and more than D7 many times), and he's supposed to appear before that 7th level ...
Didn't see him once :(

I want to play with Xom and the Staff of Chaos !

Anyway, as expected, my Gargoyle of Xom got bashed to death, when Xom gave him the Teleportitis mutation and summoned some Demons just after a unlucky TP near a yak herd ):
And I had an artefact +11 Plate mail ! D:

They did get rid of hammers outside of vaults though, apparently.  I guess it's because they're terrible.

There was less hammers since a few versions anyway, right ?
I mean, I usually play on a version I download, and when I changed my version a month ago, there were times when there was only one Hammer. But there is te forest anyway.
I even had hope, this morning, when seeing trees on my dungeon level 5, but it was a Fedhas altar :(

Hm. Hey, guys. I don't think that I've posted here, but I've played DC:SS for a while. (And am terrible at it.)

I'm at level 6 or 7 or so, maybe 8, playing a SpAs, or however it would be pronounced. I have a few questions about my gear though. Also: I managed to kill an eight-headed hydra using wands of fire, but a bloody slime ate it's corpse or something.

Firstly: What should my god be? I've been worshiping Okawaru, or whatever his name is, since I had found his temple early on.

Also, out of these three weapons, which is the best?

A) +1, +4 Dagger of Speed
B) +1, +3 Dagger of Draining
C) +3, +1 Dagger of Venom

And, for my armor, I found a +0 Fire Dragon Armour pretty early on. Should I use that, or my robe of...Uh, +0 nothingness? I REALLY like the armor bonus from the dragon armor. I also managed to purchase a +2 cloak of Darkness, and two +2 rings of protection for cheap (I haven't found a single ring yet).

I rarely get this far, so...Any help would be great, thanks!

Edit: Neeeeeeeevermind. A hill giant squashed me in one hit when I was in some tight corridors. Blimey.

God: Okawaru is a perfectly acceptable pick.  The other obvious picks that spring to mind are Ashenzari and Trog, as well as the "good for almost any character that can worship them" gods (Elyvilon, Nemelex, Makhleb).  You can experiment a bit, but I'd recommend against TSO (who stops you from stabbing), Cheibriados (who is terrible) and Xom (who will kill you).

The dagger of venom could prove very useful for "hit and run" attacks, I'd suggest using it against anything that isn't resistant to poison.  The dagger of draining would be good against anything living that resists poison (and probably rivals the dagger of venom if you aren't planning to poison and run).  The dagger of speed is kindof bad, iirc, but would be the best of the three against non-living things.

FDA is good, but I'd be wary of walking around with negative cold resistance (cold attacks are pretty rare early on but with spriggan HP it wouldn't take many to kill you).  Hopefully you'll find a source of cold resistance to counterbalance it.

Heh, thank you, I'll keep note of all of that for future runs. I was thinking Trog, but didn't know if I wanted to risk using Berserk at bad moments, or wait until I had enough Piety to use the Brothers thing or whatever. And I've never gone Chei...Cheibriados. The snail-guy. I sometimes play as a Chaos Knight for fun, and I have no idea who TSO is.

If only I didn't get instantly gibbed. I discovered that it wasn't solely the hill giant that murdered me; - A crimson imp (With some kind of trident?) must have blinked to me and delivered the fatal blow. Damn. I was using the dagger of speed mainly, so it's good to know that they aren't very good. Also: I had found some double-bladed sword (-1 Accuracy, +15 Damage). While I didn't nab it for this run, would it still be useful on different characters? Seemed to have an nice damage bonus.

Oh. I did encounter an Ice Beast when wearing it, and that fight was pretty difficult. There WAS some ring of chill resistance or something in the shop...But...Well, I'm dead. Eheheheh. Such is the life in the dungeon.

Chei is actually pretty damn good for some builds, namely heavy armour wearing mages.
