Why would Trog be evil?  Sure, he encourages you to kill, but so does TSO.

But Trog is pretty indiscriminate about what you kill, versus TSO preferring you kill 'evil', or at least in the name of 'righteousness.' In the dungeon, where there are no innocents, Trog is probably chaotic at best (being not necessarily evil), but I doubt he'd be a functionally civilized religion on the surface. Some overzealous TSO worshippers could probably be called evil from an ethical standpoint ('righteously' killing whoever they view as evil), but the ideals would be for The Greater Good.

Just used a wand of polymorph other on a snail because I didn't really have anything else to hit it with, and got a 5 headed hydra. Didn't end well.  >:(

Jessica still has a ton of HP even if she is a quokka. How well are Felids when playing them? Can they actually use weapons, or are they sort of handicapped there?

You can't use any items pretty much except potions/scrolls those types of things. Can't use wands, weapons, armor, etc. However I just played my first felid, and got the furthest I have ever gotten in the game before. Every four levels they get an extra life. Felid Berserker seemed to work out pretty well

Ah, I didn't realise HD determine the result of polymorph. Won't be trying that again!  ;)

When Crawl wants to kill your character, there's simply nothing you can do at all.

Situation, just entered on Dungeon floor 3 with a vampire necromancer that just got his 3rd level.
Killed a bat near the stair i arrived from and animated its skeleton, then pressed O to autoexplore due to how boring the early game is.

When autoexplore find something of value (item/stair/monster/etc...) it stops.

The autoexplore then stopped and the same turn it stopped because there was a monster, and before i could do anything it was monster turn :

So a centaur appeared out of depth (D:3 that i just entered !), then shouted and then shot a fire arrow that convenientely killed my character in the same turn by making more than the 20 full health my character had at that point .

So yes, when Crawl decide to kill your character, it will do.

Why would you use such a risky effect on something you can so easily outrun in the first place, though?

I'd managed to move myself into a pretty awkward situation and the rest of the level was full of harder things, I thought if I could stay in that area I'd have a better chance of resting and getting out. It still wasn't a good idea, I probably could have gotten away with just running...

I don't know why I was even carrying a wand of polymorph, I usually dump them.

Hopefully my level 8 chaos knight on level 5 of the dungeon with his +4/+5 falchion of chaos will take someone out.  Couldn't find any armor for him though  ::)

I swear to goddamn god I'm gonna hunt every gnoll to extinction.

Everything's good, but then I have orcs and crap chasing after me.
Xom decides to go all capricious and spawn some ball lightning.
Awesome.
Then gnolls come.
And kill me.

Also, what the hell just happened?
I found some rare weapon, entered this room, killed everyone in it, and when I'm dining on goblin flesh, some demons come.

Demons came from where? Were you worshiping Xom?

Xom granting you a kickass piece of equipment is usually followed up by him sending a demon army after you while you are healing.  He's sorta like an abusive spouse.

It's all about surviving Xom's bitchy attitude when he gets mad. He really does have the ability to be one badass god, but thats all within the luck of the draw.
