I really love Demonspawn. Not because they're powerful. They're actually pretty mediocre overall, even with demonic heritage gifts. But I love seeing the different abilities that you end up with. I just got one that gives me _sick_ regen whenever I'm standing near corpses. If I can get a swarm of guys in a hallway, I get a few % of my total HP back each turn. It's awesome, I wonder if it scales to the # of corpses.

Why yes, yes it does. Getting that mutation is all by itself a good reason to drop whatever god you have and pick up Kiku.

The power only kicks in when you actually kill something; just dropping corpses won't work.

Does it stack with Mahkelb's power?

They're totally separate effects, so yes.

The one where you get piety from killing? Yes. The regen always run out long before the corpse rots, too.

He's not talking about piety, he's talking about HP and/or MP (whichever Makhleb gives).

 Need help.

Spoiler: Character (click to show/hide)

Is this guy ready for lair? Also does amulet of rage help a berserker?

It does, but how much I don't know. If you have less then 150 piety with Trog, it provides a secondary pass out preventer when rage ends. It also grants rage extension in the same way as Trog does, but I'm not sure if that stacks or not. If you have no other amulets, leave it on, but I would trade it out for something more potent later.

You lack Resist Poison, which could potentially be an issue down there, though not as great as in the Hive. With that orc slayer, you'd have a decent chance in orc after a few more levels.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Ah, never mind. Cleared 3 levels, found labyrinth for the first time. Hilarity ensues.

It only kicks in when you kill, but you get powered by all corpses in range even if you didn't kill them.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I had a pretty good chaos knight going, with multiple named pieces of jewelry and so on. Then Xom cast me into the abyss. I held out for a while, too, but eventually I got killed by a Hellwing.

I've been getting pillaged by horde after horde of elephants. They got an elite elephant in there too that I've never fought, thing is just absurdly tough.

And why do I always seem to end up with Demon whips? Like the last three DS characters I've played, that's been either the only, or the best, weapon I've ended up with.

Just lost a very promising spriggan wizard who found a ring of sustenance and 4 spellbooks to a dagger of chaos berserking a giant frog... I really should learn not to trust random effects, I just hadn't found another decent weapon.

Yay, Ossuary! I got enough experience to level up twice, enough loot that I can't carry it all, and enough scrolls of remove curse that I could remove all the bad effects of the death curses I got. Well, except for some potions of healing that I didn't drop.

Is it just me, or are the developers of this game constantly striving to make it more challenging than it already is?

Yes, difficulty seems to increase in each version making things even harder for most of us, probably because of the the very few Crawl mutants that make their 15 runes victory daily it gives the impression to the devs that their game is too easy ?

But in the same time, at least they have improved the armour skill with the increased damage reduction, making wearing actually an armour again a viable choice for close combat characters in 0.8, instead of being a bad joke in comparison to the evasion skill in 0.7 and 0.6.

Not real multiplayer. If you play at one of the online servers, you get to fight other people's ghosts, though. Check http://crawl.develz.org/wordpress/howto for instructions.
