Monsters need a rage nerf and need to be subject to the rage de-buff.
That's no fun. Should go the opposite way. Monsters that rage can do so freely, and it stacks each time they rage. Anything else would be too easy.

No, when monsters rage they need to shoot balls of rage that hit for 2d(HD^2) irresistible damage with perfect accuracy, and then hit for that damage again each turn. And also controlled blink when they berserk.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

And every time you hit them, they should spawn off new copies of themselves, who are also raging. Who insta-heal every round. :P

At the very least, they should have the "fatigued" debuff so they can't just do it again and again (Rupert, I'm looking at you).

Rupert does get exhausted. Well, for three turns or so, hope that is enough time to get away.  :P

Almost every RPG or roguelike has 'cheating' enemies, why would it suddenly be a problem for dungeon crawl?

Because in Dungeon Crawl it's awfully blatant, to the point where it's immersion breaking. It's like if the AI in TW games spawned stacks of units in cities you're besieging.

Nethack is fairly good about this. I actually don't think there is a single thing monsters can do that the player can't.

Whereas in DCSS, well, yeah.

AND comes back everytime you kill him, and causes other rather unique nasty things I am pretty sure the player canīt duplicate. Also I donīt know if you can have a famine or pestilence attack like the horseman do.

Also, it is purely a cosmetic thing. If they would nerf monster berserk they would simply give the monsters that use it more attack, hp and speed......
I also fail to see in what other instances the game blatantly cheats.

A few endgame monsters. Considering Rodney is supposed to be a massively powered wizard, and the Horsemen are, well, the HORSEMEN OF THE APOCALYPSE, I'd say its rather warrented.

As for DC:SS cheating? Endless berserk, Endless magic, Limitless smiting, inherent blinking, limitless electric throwing, permanent invisibility and haste.

Yeah, the game doesn't track MP for monsters. Quit bitching about it already. ::)

Anyway, my DEAE died of an acute case of Margery, but the new and improved DEIE is doing pretty well. I've been finding so many books on the ground. So many. The Necronomicon was just lying on the floor in D:8. I've already converted to Kikubaaqudgha, so I would have gotten it anyway, but it's still neat. I was just almost killed by Urug, but I managed to get away with my boots of running. I'm pretty sure a couple thrown icicles would kill him, so it's mostly a question of getting a few turns to spend in spell range without him blasting me with his spells.

As for DC:SS cheating?
Endless berserk, -we already discussed that
Endless magic, -yes, the game does not track MP for monsters
Limitless smiting, -same point as endless MP
inherent blinking,- no, you can have a blink at will mutations, and how does this differ from the spell blink?
limitless electric throwing,-yes, same as endless MP
permanent invisibility-yes, but easily duplicated by spells.
haste -no creature has permanent haste, some are inherent faster, but you  can get a fair bit faster yourself by mutations/boots.

The 2 things I see here that can be considered cheating is not tracking monster MP and other berserk rules. Monster also don't eat btw.....
