*sigh* I just got killed by an ancient lich... About 16 turns in the game.
How the hell did you manage to find an ancient lich on the first level of the dungeon?!
He probably searched hard enough  :D

16 turns???  You obviously activated the anti-grinding mechanism.  You should be done with D:10 after about 10.

I was an Abyssal Knight, I was in the abyss and that bastard wasted me.

I've been enjoying this character so far.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The sheer... power is overwhelming.  And I should be able to get Fire Storm pretty soon.

The problem is, as you can probably see, total lack of diversification.  That's mainly because I haven't really seen any good enchantments and I don't really want to train translocations with spells likely to get me banished.

It reminds me of last year tournament, one of my character got a

The game lasted 00:00:46 (71 turns).

I had been exploring the surroundings of the starting area in Abyss, trying to see if i could find the portal instead of wasting some faith to exit automatically.
I did found that portal, unfortunately i was followed apparently.

I have a similar mage, about to do the swamp. I've spread my exp around a bit more, fighting (whatever I can cope with - Yaks are just about doable but not Spiny Frogs) for some more hp, a bit more stealth and enchantments for invisibility. I'm a lot futher away from the endgame spells as a result - Vehumet has provided me with an extensive library, but not sure as yet what to shoot for.
Recently my summon ice beasts stopped costing me food, so pushing summoning is another possibility, perhaps a back-up plan for tough branch ends (and the ziggurat I found...).

I am a fan of this now, just got it yesterday. Tried the PuTTY servers, but I cant play without tiles yet. Amazing game, to say the least. The furthest I have gotten is only floor 4 before my head was smashed in by some female sword maniac (The one that spawns along with her duo, a male magician. I killed him first, this put her in a rage and she killed me in a few turns), I think I was using a Draconian Chaos Knight of Xom, although it could have been a Demonspawn.

Funnily, the ghost of that char has popped up quite a few times and has never failed to defeat my newest heros.

They're Dowan and Durvessa. Kill Dowan first because his partner death boost is MUCH greater than Durvessas.

Oh, btw, a berserker can kill them easily.

Duvessas berserk rage only occurs once, after her brothers death.
Just wait on another floor for it to pass.

Good idea, I should do that next time I meet them. The first time I saw her, I did a good 3/4 of her health before she blinked away, so I was thinking "Oh, rage couldn't make that much a difference" after I killed her brother. Turns out its a pretty significant difference.

Rage always makes a big difference. Trust me. Huge HP bonus, moving/attacking at double speed, Might bonus... it's bad news!

When the player berserks, you get a reduction in damage dealt to you. I would bet that transfers over to monsters as well.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Monsters need a rage nerf and need to be subject to the rage de-buff.
