Is it meant to be an answer to the likes of Fire Storm?

Also, my MfCr now has about as much EV and speed as a spriggan while in water.  And it's EV isn't too bad on land, either.

And, obviously, I have much more offensive power and health.  Let the fun begin.

Tornado seems to do more damage than the Storm spells, but it has less range.

Hey anybody knows if they buffed AC/heavy armour in trunk?

No.

It's weird... they make armour bad to try and stop it from being a no brainer, but now they've created another dumb decision - one to which the solution is "don't wear heavy armour".  Ever.

I agree, EV is so much better is not even funny, it allows full damage cancellation, casting, stealth, weighs less, armor is rare compared to robes and im sure im forgetting about something.

My favorite game was a melee heavy armored guy but now it has to be some gimmick like ogre berserk since the only chance to make it far with a melee build is to glass cannon it.

EV also has no Unarmed penalty and is better against item destruction and acid. Yeah, AC is completely inferior now. You can still win with a heavily armored fighter if you really want to. Deep Dwarf Necromancer/Berserker and Mountain Dwarf Hunters are fun.

The only reason to wear heavy armor is to get Armour skill so you get extra AC from your armor not on your body. It's silly.

Hopefully the eventual system makes armor other than GDA worthwhile by making lighter armors not kill your EV but still provide some nice AC. It should at least make randart non-GDA armors worthwhile somehow, instead of how it is currently where randart chain mail is useless.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Randart ring mail's not that bad, though~

Ring mail's about as high as it goes before it gets utterly not worth it, though. Even then, if you can patch that resist hole with a robe, leather armor, or the lighter dragon stuff instead...

Maybe just bump the effect of the armor skill on heavy armor penalties?

EDIT: I should say, it would make sense to me for a master armor wearer to be better in armor than not, in all things. Maybe full penalty cancellation at 27 is too much, but still... something a little more impressive than halving a semi-crippling penalty.

You could try MfCr, although I guess that's technically a hybrid (although almost all your damage comes from melee fighting).

My one is still going pretty strong.

So many cool pieces of jewellery and yet no poison resistance... ah well.

And yes, you can win with a heavily armed fighter, in the same way you can win with no god.  But I don't think wearing armour should be that kind of decision.

Personally, I think one point of AC should reduce just as much damage on average as a point of EV or SH. That'd just make so much sense and would make characters easy to compare.

"Oh, character A's got 20 combined EV, AC, and SH. He doesn't reduce damage as well as character B's 30 combined EV, AC, and SH."

I actually believe AC should be better than EV since its harder to get + all of the discussed above. I hope devs actually correct this somewhere in between the addition of transforming into Goku at level 27, sesame street uniques and the adding of the new race, "Lost's smoke"

Been thinking about a kenku transmuter, based on the theory that beak + talons + blade hands = awesome unarmed combat damage.

The EV bonus from flight should also help.

On the other hand, kenku get low HP and are pretty bad at transmutations.

My question is: do they lose their flying ability if transformed into a form that cannot fly, eg spider, ice or statue form?

And a slightly related question: Do centaurs gain any speed advantage from spider form, or are they already faster in their natural form?

Speaking of characters with ridiculous EV:

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Yes... 58EV.  And that's when I'm not in water.

Much more evasive than my winning spriggan, and with way more HP.  And a +8, +7 bardiche of Holy Wrath.

It's time to rock.  This shall be my first 15 rune win!

Well... went into Elf level 25, came out level 27 and with another rune :P.  Man, being cast into the abbys twice in a row sucked, although it got me lots of xp, allowed me to get the rune, and, oddly, gave me a potion of cure mutation to cure the crippling mutations it gave me.

Hmm... where to next...

So what's the best way to train stealth?

I've been trying a kobold assassin, have turned off all skills except stealth and stabbing, and am trying to stab monsters whenever possible, but still all my experience seems to be going into short blades and dodging.
