Well, I haven't bothered to post in this thread before, but I have a character who I'm pretty sure is going to get a win, so I thought I would.
SpEn, of course. :P
Spoiler: Char dump part one (click to show/hide)
Whoops, too many chars, will have to split it up.

Spoiler: Part two (click to show/hide)
Any criticisms are welcome.

Edit:@cganya
Yeah, orc is like that, innocent until it gets BAM! hard.  That's why you should almost always do Lair first.  You never know when you're gonna find a high priest or warlord or tough unique.

For char dump, use #.  Finding where it dumps to isn't always easy.  C:/Users/<username>/AppData/Roaming/crawl/morgue/<charname>.txt  for Win 7, and probably Vista too.

Whew, had a close one in Zot:1 there.  Draconians are tougher than I expected.  Invisibility saved me.  Obviously not ready for Zot yet.  Any suggestions as to where to go next?  Cleared Lair, Orc, Hive, Shoals, Snake, Vault, Elf, Hall of Blades, and the main Dungeon so far.

cganya: Always nice to hear other people's stories. :) Yeah, some of the higher-level orcs are preposterously tough. And they show up fairly rarely, so they usually manage to surprise when they do. Sometimes there's nothing worse than orc warriors down there, and sometimes you get demon-summoning assholes who kill you in four turns. I only know where to find the char sheets when playing on one of the servers, so if you're using tiles, I can't help you with that. :(

KaminaSquirtle: Well, the last time I had an unstoppable SpEn of Nemelex, I decided to take on the Tomb.

...

So, don't go to the Tomb. Seriously, don't.

cganya: Forgot, your char was already dead.  There should be a morgue file somewhere in the directory mentioned.

soadreqm: Ok, I won't.  Maybe Crypt?  Or Slime?  I have rCorr somewhere, I think...
Crypt looks easy enough from knowledge bot.  I think I'll get my rN on, and try that.
No Tomb, though.

Edit: Got cast into abyss in Crypt:4.  I suspect it was a zot trap.  Aw well, maybe I'll get a rune out of it...
Edit 2: Found portal out, decided against going for rune, and left the place.
Edit 3: Aw yeah!  Level 27!  And Crypt:5 almost done, was a breeze.

Re: Squirtle spriggan -- only things I'd really recommend is to pick up Mystic Blast (or maybe throw icicle) and some conjuration to support it and swap out that dagger for a decent sabre or quickblade. Dagger of speed is mostly useless, as daggers are already really fast. Electrocution is generally the best short blade enchantment, barring speed on a sabre.

Other than that, stack 5 a few ornate+ escape decks and go wreck Zot:5 with those summoning decks. Don't bother fighting anything that can be avoided in Z:1-4. You've got a tougher SpEn than the one I won with. Getting the orb will still be a bit of a crap shoot for a squishy spriggan, but you've got a decent chance of it at th'mo, especially if you've got more scrolls and junk stashed away somewhere.

I'd probably say don't bother with Slime. You really want artifacts in every armor slot (Of which sprigs can't wear two.) before going in there. About the only thing you can do at this point is wander around the Abyss farming XP, I'd imagine.

I found Draconians very easy with my SpEn.  Heck, ensorcelled hibernation usually worked after a couple of tries on the non magic ones, and the other ones you can just turn invisible for.

Frumple:  Ok, learned mystic blast, I'll try to find something to train conjurations on.  Found no quickblades.  I thought about sabres, but I haven't found any artifact ones, just a bunch of glowing/runed ones in elf, which I doubt will be better than my +7, +9 dagger of speed.  Found a lot of short swords, though, I see a elec one in blade, I'll pick that up.  But no artifact short blades at all.

Got a bunch of pots and scrolls lying around, will pick them up.

Yeah, I got to slime: 2, and decided to screw it, freaking walls, and shining eyes.  I did get clarity mutation, though, in addition to a control tele one I picked up earlier.  I guess I'll train some conjurations, pick up some supplies, and go for the orb.  I'll get another char dump up when I'm ready to go for it.

Yeah, it was a purple one that had me, forgot invisibility until ~28 hp.  Lucky I didn't die.  Should be able to handle them now.

Same here, actually.  And no loot.  I mean, I got to level 27 just fine without it, so why bother?

Losing is not fun.
Crawl has that problem, but their goal list says they're working on making sure it doesn't have to happen.

Imagine a cool peice of sky-blue and milk-white marble about 3cm by 2cm and by 0.5cm, containing a tiny 2mm malacolite crystal. Now imagine the miles of metamorphic rock it's embedded in that no pick or chisel will ever touch. Then, imagine that those miles will melt back into their mantle long before any telescope even refracts an image of their planet. The watchers will be so excited to have that image too.

Ok, it's go time.  Tell me if I've overlooked something important, I wouldn't want to die from stupidity.  I could only get level 3 in conjurations, not much left to kill.  I swapped repel missiles for deflect missiles, and picked up summon butterfly from a shop.  I have all my runes stashed right next to a up stair in D:1.
